But that’s what you expect at the end of the road, right? Key West is just that: the southernmost tip of the Florida Keys. The Keys are an intricate 1,700-island network of inlets, beaches, and coral reefs sprawling over 130 square miles through sparkling, crystal-clear water. All accessible by car – making for a mind-blowing drive.


Start your drive on the Old Dixie Highway to North Key Largo where you’ll drive through the Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Hook back up with U.S. 1 in Key Largo. Take a break to swim at Canon Beach – it’s just a short swim out to a bona fide shipwreck.


The middle Keys are popular fishing destinations. At Robbie’s Marina on Islamorada you can hop on a Partyboat for a half day of fishing on the open water.


Cross the famous Seven Mile Bridge to reach the lower keys. Cruise through Big Pine Key, Cudjoe Key, and Big Coppitt Key before reaching Key West. Stay a few days and enjoy the unique vibe.


Trade your car in for a two-wheeler with Lloyd’s Tropical Bike Tour. Grab a drink and bet on turtle racing at Turtle Kraals. End your day with a plate of Conch Fritters at Sunset Pier to watch the sun sink below the horizon.
