I am quite happy to see that you read the blog and that you are taking the time to comment.
I am a lucky owner of a hemi orange 08. With that said, I have had one complaint since June of 2006 when the Challenger was confirmed for production: “there are competitive reasons for radio silence.” We are in the information age and there are very few things that can be kept quiet for long before they are leaked on the internet. When I read more information about what Chrysler is doing on Autoblog, Jalopnik, Allpar, etc., it makes me wonder what Chrysler marketing is doing. You would make many Mopar fans happy if you were “more transparent” in your goals and operations. Instead of letting the magazines and blogs get credit for reporting on your “secret project”, beat them to the punch and let your fans know!

Keep the colors limited. People always want what they cant have. I bought a red RT and put down my money money on a yellow one months ago. It was to be built in Sept. but that has been changed to Nov. I will wait until March as long as I do not see one on every corner. Keep the special and thanks for building a great car.

It is nice to see that you are reading our comments and even nicer to hear from you. Don’t take us wrong, we are just trying to give you some advise because we hate to see Dodge go under again. Offer all the high impact colors all the time and then each year change the car a little, like a shaker hood option, T/A option the next year, ‘cuda option the next year, Daytona option the next year with a nose cone and 2′ high wing on the back. Air grabber hood, the list goes on and people will keep trading in their cars to get the coolest thing out there. Thanks for listening.

Keep the high impact colors limited, that is what makes future collectibles. I ordered a yellow one months ago and the build has been pushed back , but I will wait as long as it takes as long as I do not see one on every corner.

Lets be selfish and worry about collectability. If they don’t sell enough cars then you will never be able to by another Dodge again. I say they have the numbered dash plaques if you want collectability. However, they should offer the color every year, just with different stripe packages, grille, taillights, etc.

It is not about being selfish it is about value for your dollar. I am sick of buying new cars that are worth half of that in a few years. I am willing to pay good money for a car in the hopes that it would hold its value better. That is why they need to limit the colors and limit production, I do not want a 10K rebate. I want it to hold its value. KEEP THEM LIMITED. You can always offer a different shade in a couple of years.

There aren’t that many people that buy Mopars in the first place so I don’t think you have to worry about the color issue. The way things are going they will all be worth money.

Glad you are monitoring the posts. The Challenger, Mustang, and Camaro have struck the chord of nostalgia we need right now.
This is my chance to own a cool car I have admired my entire life. As I stated in earlier posts, green is the ultimate color for me, and I hope Dodge offers the selection.
I watched a special on Ed Big Daddy Roth the other night, and it reinforced why I want a green Challenger. Screw convention, wisdom, and practical thinking. I want to have some fun, as ya only get one ticket in life, and this is the ride for me!!!
Sublime Green, and yes I will honor my previous post to personally appear in a Dodge commerical to comment on how Dodge listened to the voices and delivered!!!!

Dude, there was never a “challenger daytona” (that I know of). I’ve been trying reeally hard not to bash the car theya re calling charger, but man don’t confusee the two. If they ever did that to teh challenger, I’d probably run wild eyed throught he local dealership smashing the windows out of those cars.
It’s bad enough that “daytona” had been reduced to a sticker kit for a four door. Leave it alone, man, leave it alone!

Can anyone tell me when the order window for Plum Crazy will close? It seems like Detonator Yellow was only here for 2 months, but B5 Blue was around for a lot longer. I really want Plum Crazy, but I currently live overseas. How much longer do I have?

I have a Superbird in the garage that I can’t drive because it is worth too much. The new Charger is a four door brick, so the only option is to make a Daytona version of the Challenger. Obviously, I would love to see a two door Charger, but that will never happen since these guys can’t even offer sublime for a color choice option.

at this rate purple will be gone before it shows up. i wanted to actually see the yellow on a car before i bought one, not some artists airbrushed picture. the economy is in the tank, ain’t too many people looking to buy cars now, especially expensive ones. so if i’m going to drop 40-50k on a new challenger i better be able to get the exact car i want. without us, the customers, there are no new challenger sales. how hard is it to offer numerous colors. i mean geez it doesn’t take any longer or cost anymore to paint a car in black than it does green. if chrysler is really listening i wouldn’t cancel the yellow yet, no one has even seen it on a real car

All they did was swap the yellow and purple’s order around. Yellow will come next. As for comments on the Charger. The Charger has taken some time to grow on me but after seeing some red hot SRT’s in various colors, I think it’s the hottest sedan on the market. Not much can run with it and most the cost thousands more. The only thing I would add is that some of the heritage color’s don’t work that well on this style of body line’s. Where as the Challenger adapts to them really good. One other thing. That comment about “many” people don’t buy Mopar’s is pure nonsence.

How about a convertible? (come now, we put a man on the moon 40 yrs ago, you guys at Dodge can at least build a rag-top! )

Yesterday, I test drove a B5 Blue R/T Classic.
The saleman didn’t know much. He didn’t even know that Plum Crazy Purple had been available for a week.
I talked to his boss he seemed to think that Go ManGo might be offered sometime soon (didn’t say when).
I’d like Top Banana.

Yellow was closed after about 8 weeks. The dealers were aware of when it was going to close, they had the cut off date. I found the best source for info has been the dealers. They are taking orders now for plum. The yellow ones are to built starting in a few weeks. The plum ones will start after the new year. Once the color run has been built that will be it for the year, That is the info the dealers in Detroit have been giving out. I also wanted to see the yellow on a car before ordering but I ordered anyways not to get shut out. Better to have one now, if a hotter color comes out later you can always trade it in, still can have fun now, life is too short.

Thank you for posting, it really does help with the long wait. I have a DY ordered and am waiting patiently but am getting more excited by the day. The one disappointment had been the inability to delete the spoiler on the SRT (spoiler delete option similar to the stripe delete option.) I would like to buy a wing spoiler from accessories but it is too involved in changing from a SRT spoiler to a wing spoiler(filling holes/repainting/drilling new holes).
There has been numerous posting on this site and the popular challenger blogs over the last two years concerning this problem. Why doesn’t Dodge listen particularly when this this does not seem to be a major assembly line issue? Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks PG

Sorry, coolmancool, nothing personal, I just get very frustrated when anyone suggests further degrading the charger name. I am lucky, my 69 charger is not numbers matching original, so even though I will have about 50 thousand in it, I’m gonna drive it whenever the weather is decent. (440, hemi orange, 727B, 2/76 rear end)
I am excited about the upcoming re-design, suppose to be more retro, specifically stated from dodge, more like the 68-70 models. A step in the right direction if you ask me. Have a good day.

I think the Charger has hit rock bottom, however, if the redesign is anything like a 1968-1970, which were one of the best designed cars ever built, then a Daytona option would be in order.

The average person doesn’t know that you have to order some of these special high impact color options and I think you are missing out on some sales. People who purchase a “sports car” want sporty colors, not just black, silver, white, titanium, etc. if you get what I mean. Your Mopar fanbase wants the wild colors so get them out there. Thanks.

the dodge.com website shows yellow and purple still available but only on the srt8. some facts would nice as there are several different viewpoints and opinions right now on the color availability and which cars you can get them on. yellow and purple show not available on the rt on dodge.com.

The website is very out of date. When you are looking for new SRTs at the dealer, you see pictures of R/Ts with the hood to fender stripes. They don’t spend much money on the website, that is for sure.

The order window for colors changes and no one ever knows. All I can say is, that if the ordering period is open then you just order your car because it will take them a year to build it anyway.

As previously noted by ‘yellow rt’ the window appears to be about 8 weeks. That is what it was for Detonator Yellow. The window for B5 Blue was extended from 2009 until 2010 models, likely due to sluggish sales/orders.
I expect that Plum Crazy Purple will be available until early-December.
Based up 2006 to 2009 Charger colors you might see Go ManGo, Top Banana and Sublime being offered in the next year or two. They may even return to Hemi Orange, B5 Blue, Detonator Yellow and Plum Crazy Purple.
A factory T/A version could be offered with little modification to the existing assembly line – but, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I’m curious how long it takes from order to delivery. I’ve heard from a month and a half to over four.

It all depends upon the dealer from which you order your car from. Bob Frederick used to get them first, however, it is now based on the high volume dealers that sell a lot of cars. Good luck and place orders, in that way they will see there still is a demand for the high impact colors. Thanks!

Sales on the B5 were strong but they extended the run time too long. That is what happens when you take a special color and let it run too long, then it is just another color. Look at the 2009s on ebay for sale , a large percentage of them are B5 blue. I sure hope they do not do that with the Yellow and the Plum. Run em , shut em down and bring them around again in a year or two. Bought the new Magnaflow exhaust today for the 2010 yellow on order, now if they would build it I could see how it sounds. Buy I will wait as long as it takes.

I think Yellow RT is wrong. I think the high impact colors should be more available. There are a TON of mopar enthusists who would LOVE to see a plumcrazy v6, or a B5 available on the v6 model. I personally will be buying a R/T but I think the colors need to be available much longer than they are, especially since there is absolutely no advertising on the Challenger. Outside of our little circle of Mopar enthusists, the majority of the general public have no clue at all that there even is a Detonator Yellow or Plumcrazy Challenger available. If you limit the time the colors are available, the car has zero time to sell itself as once in the showrooms the colors are no longer going to be available at this rate.
Lets loose some of the everyday colors and add the high impact colors to the list.

My Plum Crazy SRT8 IS on order…but it was a bit of a chore. I dont think the “Build Your Own” web site is up to date and half of the dealers I went to said this color can not be ordered in the R/T. One guy wanted 5k over MSRP and he would only order an SRT8. I did order an SRT8 BUT from a dealer that promised to not charge over MSRP………we shall see.

For anyone who is having problems ordering a car or just wants a great hassle free experience, give Bob Frederick a call or email him. Bob is a not a great salesman, he’s a great business man, very rare these days. He knows the business and is a straight shooter. He has done everything he said he would do, kept me informed on the order status, and he answers his cell phone. Ordering is hassle free. You don’t have to worry about him promising to do something or honoring a price, he puts in writing and stands by his word. No matter what part of the country you are from, give him a call. If you don’t want to pick it up or have him deliver to your house, do a courtesy delivery to a local dealer. Want a sublime or other future color, call him and give him a deposit, He will place your order the first available day.
