OK. So let’s begin by thanking everyone for their past questions to this blog. We’ve done (you may not believe it, but it’s true) our best to get answers for you. There are a lot of things we just can’t talk about, unfortunately.
But that shouldn’t matter. We here at RLD feel like we owe you something better. So we’re going to start a running list of questions. Ask away! ***EVEN IF YOU ASKED ONE BEFORE, PLEASE RESUBMIT IT!*** We might not be able to answer you right now…but we will keep your question in the list until we can…with updates on the progress.
While we haven’t always done a great job of responding, we sometimes can come up with rock stars like Bob Frederick or Mike Accavitti who turn out to be the best in the business at getting you folks information where they can. So, again…ask away…we are definitely listening.
Submit any questions about Dodge or Chrysler LLC. in the comments below. And we’ll keep repeating your questions in future “Open Forum” posts until we can get you an answer.
UPDATE: (March 30) Your questions have all been received. This week, we will have them sorted by subject and reposted — both in the hope that we will address them in time…and to allow the RLD Community to help other users with answers to questions, or thoughts on similar questions. As you may have seen, several questions are extremely similar. We tried to answer a handful that were popping up time and time again with Mike Accavitti’s post here and Steve Bartoli’s post here. That said, please understand two important details with asking questions 1) We cannot answer every question. For questions concerning products you own and specific maintenance or care, please direct those questions to Customer Service .
2) As a manufacturer, it is often legally difficult to provide direct, concrete guidance on many issues. So the answers to some questions will be often slow to arrive or simply can’t be addressed. This DOES NOT mean your questions are without value to us. We learn a lot about what you want simply by what you are asking. So please take heart that even if a question is not answered, it is still a very important way of communicating your thoughts to us. And we thank you for all your feedback.
So hang tight, keep all these thoughts and comments coming and we will keep working to shed as much light on all the cool stuff we’ve got going on these days for you in the coming weeks and months.

I’m having problems with my durango 04. Apparently it’s overheating… thermostat was changed, auxiliary pump, ECT sensor, recall for instrument cluster panel…two dealers after I’ve spend crazy money, heating light’s still on and the dealers have no idea as to what could the problem be. Anyone had this problem that could maybe point me the right way??

I have just purchased a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. It did not have factory installed roof racks. I would like to have them put on but have been told by the dealer that since they were not installed in the factory the racks cannot be added now.
Is this true and if so why?

I have one topic I would like addressed / answered. How come Challengers are made in such low quantities? The fact is, I go to 5 star dealers with one or two on the lot, yet they have hundreds of other models just sitting there. I do not believe for one second they are flying off the shelves. I see the same vin sitting in inventories in many cases. I dont understand why marketing does not want to flood the challengers to consumers. With baby boomers having some cash in such a poor economy, why not bang out high numbers of these and fill the lots? This clearly would attract people to these cars and by the way sell vans to the moms of the house. I should see these in walmarts parking lots and sitting at McDonalds. Instead, I see 1 a month if I am lucky cruising down some back street. It makes no sense. They are blowing the chance to market a winner by excluding not only the colors and styles fans want but the cars themselves. Please explain why the limitations, why the low inventories. Brampton is not runnning 3 shifts from what I was told, and should be for the challey demands.

Is there anyone who has a Jake brake that makes the Dodge trucks sound like the big rigs. I have been looking the internet over and have found many guys who would like to add this. I know there are some jake brakes out there for cummins engines, but I don’t think they give the sound we are looking for. I think that a “Big Rig” package ought to be offered on the Dodge trucks as an extra item. I believe this would sell. Thanks!

03 dodge cargo van 2500 5.9L gas eng. auto trans.
58K miles
engine sporadically begins to miss fire as if the spark is retarded, backfires, loses power. If the gas is rapidly pumped the firing momentarily corrects then resumes missing, normal operation resumes after a minute or two.
This occurs when the engine is warm or cold, travel may be in any direction, occasionaly the engine will die at idle but cranks back up.
I have replaced the rotor, dist. cap, plug wires, plugs, crank sensor, and had the engine fuel injection serviced all by a dodge service center
Any help would be appreciated

Why did they take EPP off the Challenger? I’ve been waiting for months to get an RT Classic and when it finally opens up, I can’t afford it because I’m looking at around 600+/mth payments- even with 10K down.
Are you guys trying to blow up the company in a blaze of glory? Bring back EPP!

What is going to open up? We are at a slow dribble in my area..We have 2 challeys on the lot at a 5 star dealership. They will not offer EPP on something as scarce as this product. 5 years ago this would have been loaded on the lots. We are heading into the third year 2010 for the Challey. Think of how many chargers were on the lot going into the third year??? Very sad. I ask again, does anyone out there live near Brampton? we need workers at Brampton Ontario to feed the scoop. Even an arial shot of the back of the plant would provide some clues on production (or lack of) for the Challenger…

To the many people that are asking the blog where are the Challys I might have an answer. When I was in the Orlando area the other day,I saw 2 SE Challengers in the Alamo/National rental car lot at the airport. I do not know how many are in rental lots but, it is more then likely a pretty good number.
So the question is how many Challengers have been sold to rentals????

Anyone know how I can dealer search on my own for Challengers? We have about 5 in the western NY region to pick from. I am close to buying but need to find one close to what I want. Heck, dealers will not even let you drive one. They said they did not want any miles on the few they had in stock. Pathetic.

When you offered employee pricing I went in to order one with a 6 speed. I was told I couldn’t do that until March. March came & the employee pricing was gone. So were the financing options. It’s offered on just about everything Chrysler makes so is it true you can’t make them fast enough or just trying to keep the price up? I’d like to buy one but it’s not going to happen when the dealers lots are full of automatics with too many options oin them. Like the old school approach better- minimum options maximum power.

I agree with wfolarry- I went to 5 dealers before 2/28 to order an RT Classic to lock in EPP and they weren’t able to do it because of some allocation nonesense. They were able to place the order 3/11- after EPP was cut for the Challenger. I was ready to buy the car 2/28 and now I’m screwed paying a 4-5K “penalty” because of Chrysler’s ordering practices. I know, nobody said life was fair, but that’s just not right.

Well, I broke down and found a Challenger. Went for the Deep Water Blue. You guys are right on pricing. I lost too..a month ago I would have received EPP with an extra 1000 off for using CF. What I did get is 5 star dealership discount. Dont let dealers tell you there is NO deals on Challengers. If you are lucky enough to have a familiy member work at a 5 star dealership you may be able to get 750 below invoice on challengers. even on orders. I know I paid more than a few months ago even with that discount, but was tired of waiting and new orders just dont get filled timely. Summer will be here and gone.

I just read the list of dealers that are to close. I want to say I BELIEVE you have a serious error on the list. A contributing writer here on RLD is on the list, he is Bob Frederick, please tell us this is a mistake. Dodge is hurting we all know that but if you cut the dealers simply based on numbers you will loose some of your best HONEST and CUSTOMER oriented dealers. Mr Frederick is the single most honest dealer I have ever met or spoken with. I had questions and he answered them as a representative of DODGE a good one at that. In my opinion Dodge/Chrysler cannot afford to loose men like him and keep other sleezy dealers simply because their numbers are higher. I have but one question for you, why do you think car companies have such a poor reputation with the general public? DISHONESTY single word answer. Bob is the apittamy of honest and he is what you need to rebuild the great company Chrysler once was, wiithout men like him us as consumers will loose because our beloved MOPAR will be lost forever. I will pray to GOD you make the right call and correct this mistake!

I’d be quite interested to know exactly HOW MUCH MONEY Chrysler is saving by closing Frederick CJD. Since I – and every other US citizen here – have a vested interest (as taxpayers subsidizing the now defunct companys Bankruptcy discharge), maybe someone from Chrysler would care to post/divulge the savings they’ll realize from shutting Bob’s doors?

My understanding is that Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealerships PAY Chrysler a monthly fee to use their company sign/logo, PAY to train technicians to service the products, PAY for parts and specialized tools to work on Chrysler automobiles…… What cost does Chrysler absorb to keep ANY dealerships open? Sounds to me like the dealerships PAY Chrysler in order to stay in business, NOT the other way around!
I sent letters out last Monday.
I will not buy another Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep if Bob’s dealership is closed. I’ll put the Challenger SRT8 I bought from Bob in the garage and wait for it to become a museum piece. Seems “good business sense” will be in that museum next to it, since that seems to be extinct as well….at least in Auburn Hills.

I have a question for you, I happen to LOVE DODGE and when the oppertunity came to upadate my 1978 dodge ram to a 1996 i gladly took it. What i found was a 1996 dodge ram regular cab short box 4×4 with a 5.9. The truck i fell in love with was a step side, yes a 1996 dodge ram regular cab short box step side. I was wondering how many step sides were made between 1994 and 2001 because I have yet to see another pickup the body style of mine with a step side, and further more I dont honestly know if dodge even made a step side in 1996, so any info would be greatly appreciated because I havent found very much info on the internet, please give any info possible
