My new favorite option is the fact that dealer stock cars are being built before most of the customer pre-orders. Thanks Dodge for making me feel so important.
Have to do a correction, just saw it was options which narrows it down a bit.
Would have to be the “TrackPack”.
My favorites are the limited slip differential and remote start.
Also the fact that I ordered my 09 for invoice price.
My favorite options are the dealer mark-ups and unavailability of the car! It should be called the Ghost Challenger!
B5 Blue was not a pick of mine at all. Hemi Orange was my #1 choice. I went to a Dodge Dealership in Portland, Oregon, with group of family & freinds and saw a line-up of Chargers side-by-side. A B5 Blue Superbee Charger was next to an Orange Charger. They both looked good but to my surprise the B5 Blue actually looked better (100 times better then seeing a picture). After seeing the B5 Blue color in person, the Hemi Orange is now my second choice. Everyone in the Group agreed too. Love the pistol-grip shifter.
Hello dodge, I have mentioned this before . But I just got my Motor trend in and it looks like the Camaro is getting a 6 speed manual with their V6. Take notes dodge……
R/T Classic in Sublime or Plum Crazy! B5 blue is NOT a sporty color and only color blind old men like it. The old Viper blue with the white stripes looks a lot better. You need matching exterior color seat inserts, shaker hood and black rear window louvers. Make the money now so you can show a profit and entice investors to have confidence in you. Do a retro Charger in 2010 and bring back a Neon sized sports car (Duster) with a four banger turbo to attract the youth market. Flat black paint, stripes, scoops, air grabbers…give people what they want. People will buy cars again if they look good. It is that simple.
I ordered mine in June. I went for the R/T, 27f package. Hemi orange pearl, with stripes, and absolutely positively the 6 speed. I didn’t get any other extras. All the extra gadgets looked cool, but I just want to get in and jam through the gears! All the goodies would be a distraction to me. I’m more of a purist I guess. This car is going to kick a$$!
To all of you that are waiting for the classic colors to order yours, I have no doubt they will release at least one new classic color each year. The color availability for each year should add to the collect-ability.
The classic R/T that is coming is awesome,(its got that cool side stripe everyone wants, not to mention those classic looking wheels), but I am too impatient to wait for it.
Anyway, my favorite option? The six speed manual transmission. Gotta have it!
Well what ever they do, hopefully they’ll get rid of this lousy speed density system.
It is the major road block for modifing our Mopars.
When they fix this color problem I’ll be ordering my Challenger! SUBLIME!!!!!!!
Does anyone know if the Challengers have OBD-III (Onboard Diagnostics 3)? I heard a while ago 2009 was the year Dodge was going to move from OBD-II.
Still waiting for the Plum-Crazy option, please!
Curtis you’re right about ebay the prices are coming down. Too bad (for them) they weren’t more reasonable earlier I would have already spent my money on one. Now only a 6-speed will do. I was torn between an R/T Classic or SRT8 Spring Special and an Orange SRT8 too. I can’t wait any longer and I like the Orange better (even though its the most common colour right now). HemiPower does have a point, the yellow SuperBees were gone and the b5 blue ones not so much. However if the Challenger was in plum Crazy its my first choice still…
If Chevy can put an appearance package on the Camaro 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder, then why can’t we have the Classic Challenger package added to a 6 cylinder SE model?
waitingforchallenger: GOOD POINT!!! THANKS
Wagner, the reason it is not checked off on the RT F package is because they are not heated mirrors. The mirrors on the RT F are Power Body Color folding. They don’t call out all of the features in the features/options catagory. For instance, the brochure finds it necessary to call out seat belts as a feature.
waitingforchallenger: under build your own, modle selection, need help deciding, compare the standard features. Bring up R/T F pkg under mirrors. Body-color exterior mirrors is not checked off??? all other modles are checked off. thats why the question, not looking at the picture also did notice the black spioler in the picture knew it was wrong so once again do you think the mirrors on the R/T Fpkg are black or color maching???
Leathal, yes I have a copy. My dealer is pretty cool about getting me stuff for Challenger. I am pretty sure the classic edidtion doesn’t come out until after the first of next year. I originally thought that the classic had to be B5, but Bob posted that they may offer it in black, silver, and possibly other colors but I don’t know for sure.
waitingforchallenger….do you have a copy of that brochure? I may run to the dealer this weekend and see if they have one. I am curious about the hood for the Classic. I may be mistaken, but doesn’t the Classic only come in the B5 Blue? And I think it doesn’t come out until after the first of the year. I don’t think I can wait that long..hehe
Wagner, mirrors on all of the models are body color. Spoiler is body color on RT and black on SRT. The mirros do look dark in the build my own section but I think that is lighting. The images in the build my own aren’t exact, you will notice that the RT build shows a black spoiler, yet the SRT build doesn’t show hood stripes. If you have any questions on what each package includes here is a link to the buyers guide. Look at slides 24 & 25 in high res to read. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-dodge-challenger-brochure/
does anyone know for shore does the R/T 27F Build come with black mirrors or color matching? keeping in nature with the question I like the 6 speed standard trans offered for 09 but wanted sublime. ordered one in orange for now yes a R/T 6 speed 20inch wheels 27F build. check build your own which sparked the question for me???
What is with the B5 blue? Every dealership has a B5 blue Charger Super Bee sitting on the lot yet the yellow ones went fast. We want Sublime and Plum Crazy for the Classic R/T package NOT B5 Blue. You talk about listening to your customers, but it is obvious that you don’t. Why pretend? Just do the right thing and make plenty of Challengers while people still want them. With gas going up to $5 a gallon, you might as well bring the Neon back.
RFrost…I can give you an Indiana dealer’s name, I’ve already talked to them. They will drop ship to Florida. He said they do it all the time. Since they have the transmission plants for Chrylser there, they do a lot of ordering. I think that is what I am going to do.
Dodge I will not order a Challenger unless it is offered in Sublime or Plum Crazy. Please listen to your customers, the paint line up on the Viper is perfect.
Also tell the delerships in Florida to stop being so greedy!!!!
Johnnymopar and Jimpar, thanks for sharing your story of your dealership experience. You should see the number of 2008’s on Ebay. I bet prices start to come down soon.
Yesterday, I traveled to Portland, Oregon to spend the weekend with family. I visited the largest Dodge Dealership in the state. Though there were no Challengers on the lot, there was a nice line-up of Chargers. I had the opportunity to see a Hemi Orange next to a Superbee (B5 Blue). From looking at pictures of the different colors my top choice was Hemi Orange. I have been going back and forth between an 2009 SRT in Hemi Orange or possibly the Challenger R/T Classic. I beleive that the Classic only comes in B5 Blue which I was not to keen on. Well, after seing the B5 Blue on the Superbee, I can attest that it looked awesome! I feel it looked better then the Hemi Organge and the party of people I was with thought so too.
On a side note, the two sales folks I talked to were very nice. They told me that they sold their first 2008 last week for $20K over MSRP and that 3 more were on order. All I can say is that the person who paid $20K over MSRP must have deep pockets. It amazes me that someone would actually pay that kind of money over MSRP….
Hey, there is a ton and I mean a ton of 2008 Dodge Challengers for sale on Ebay. Looks like a lot of dealers are going to have to come down to reality. I bet prices start to drop very soon to a more realistic level.
Hello Dodge you better offer 5 speed manual with the V6 if you want to compete with the Mustang!!!!!
cascadian scoot you says right, is not easy to find a dealer at the msrp. what’s a matter. they wont to be ritch on the same year.
Relax dealers we wont to pay the right dodge price, not more it’s normal.
My prefered option is the 426 Hemi + tremec 6 speeds trac pack + convetible.
johnnymopar, here’s ‘Another Tale of Two Dealerships’ from north of the line, only there are three involved…
I ordered a 6 speed R/T on June 18th from Carter in Burnaby, the first day they were taking ’09 orders in Canada. Went to two dealers, but Carter offered up MRSP with 2k down (the other wanted 5k), so I went with Carter. He mentioned that they expected to sell their allotment of ’08’s for up to 70k.
Two weeks later I was in Ontario, and when I checked out the local dealer in Burlington (Fairview Chrysler), they had an ’08 SRT (Hemi Orange) with a ‘Sold’ sticker on it, and the invoice listed MRSP, with additional Federal Gas Guzzler tax, at 54 and change. As I poured over it, the Sales Manager came up and offered me their second allotted SRT, a black one. Seems the dealership’s owner had called him just that morning to say he wasn’t going to keep the car after all, and to release it for sale (this was Friday July 4th). I said I had an ‘09 R/T on order back in Vancouver, but out of interest, what was the sell price? Same as that one he said, MRSP as posted. Sooo, the worm appears to turn…
For the R/T hood stripes, is it either no stripes or is it the optional side (hood to fender) ? I’m not sure I like those, I’d rather have the hood stripes
I’m in the same deal as CategoryV I ordered my 09 R/T 6 speed yesterday from a dealer in MA for 500 over invoice. Most of the other dealers I went to were trying to charge over msrp. If anyone in the area wants to know the dealer say so and ill send you an email with the info.
I ordered my 09 SRT8 6 spd for $500 over invoice at Quigley dodge in Gilbertsville PA. I asked at another dealer call Bergeys in Landale, and the salesman thought he could do $400 over invoice, but no lower, and I didn’t want to jerk my salesman around for a measly $100. I’m actually happy with the color choices, if I could only make up my mind between the traditional hemi orange, and all black. The trak pack has to be my favorite option for 09, but I wish I had more options as far as rims, and perhaps a differnt shifter as well.
RE: A Tale of Two Dealerships. My favorite option is the Tremac 6spd. Plum Crazy if available would be a close second. Curtis I had a similar experience in BC, Canada. After giving up on finding a reasonably over sticker priced ‘08 I decided to order an ‘09 with a 6 speed. So off to Maple Ridge BC I went when pricing was anounced to order and option out my Chally. I went to a dealer I heard sold the most Dodge trucks around and was sure to get priority in orders of Challys. They glady took my deposit and insisted pricing was not out yet on ’09s but would call me next week. They didn’t let me sit at the computer when choosing my options and brought me a sheet showing the options but no prices. I figured it should be about $53,000 Canadian. They called me on the Tuesday saying it was $63,300 and fed me a line that 6spds will be 1 in 50 and thats what they will sell for. I was down there the same day and cancelled my order and took back my deposit. Wednesday on my lunch hour I went to a dealer in Richmond, BC and ordered up the same car, sat at the computer and it stickerd at $54,220. It was the first customer ordered 6spd in BC I believe.
At 2 that afternoon the first dealer called me with “good news”. They agreed to sell me the car at sticker. What a joke!! They dropped the price over 9 grand in one day.
I work hard for my money and this is the first NEW car I have ever bought.
My fellow Chally fans and I are supporting Dodge with our hard earned money, not greedy dealers that want to fleece customers. YOU HEAR US DODGE!!!
They do. The whole idea of a production line is to streamline the process. Stopping to change color for every other car, or even every tenth car, cuts into that and costs money.
I think they do a run of one color, a specific number of cars, then switch the color.
Thanks for the info Curtis. I wonder how accurate that price range is though. I guess we’ll find out for sure when Dodge officially releases the info. Thanks again.
Kenthicken…It’s a bit more complicated and time consuming than just hitting a couple buttons and changing colors (automation has no impact on changing colors on the paint line). The paint line has to be shut down for a color change, but I think with the volume of sales that would be made in certain colors, I think it would be economically feasible, especially if they charged a little extra for it. I know I’d certainly pay up to an extra $500 for Plum Crazy, and I’m sure others would too.
Curtis you are not alone. The EXACT same thing happened to my dad. We are from the Cleveland area as well, vin 8H301123. I’m guessing its the same dealer, since I heard they have a few Challengers on the lot. The best part is they said they really wanted to see my dad in the car for $66,795 on a Friday. When he said no it dropped to $51,000 on Saturday. He walked and came to the dealer I work at for an ‘09 SRT.
Hi Impact colors as an extra cost option. It can’t be THAT difficult to put Top Banana, Plum Crazy and Sublime into the assembly line process, can it? The whole line is automated… so, when the car that is coded “Top Banana” comes thru the booth (that would be mine), the sprayers prime up and switch over to the desired color… simple! Why not charge an extra $500 to $750 for a Hi-Impact color? I’m sure your uptake on a special order would be well over 60%!
Ramtuff, I was told that the Challenger Classic R/T, though pricing is not available yet, will be about $1800 to $2200 above the price of the R/T. It will include what is called the “M” package. R/T has the “J” package. So, I am leaning towards the Classic as a good compromise between the R/T and SRT. But, I am not to keen on the B5 Blue Color. I wish I could see what the color really looks like as opposed to a photo.
The Spring Special is package available for the SRT. I’m not sure what all is included in the SRT package, but it does include B5 blue paint and blue accents on the seats.
The Classic R/T package includes B5 blue paint, a T/A style belt-line stripe, and polished Torq-Thrust style wheels.
What is the Spring Special and the Classic ones? I haven’t seen anything on that yet, guess I missed something
Curtis,
How much extra was the Spring Special package? Dodge.com doesn’t allow you to build and price either the Spring Special or the Classic yet.
My favorite option is the tremec transmission. My question is this: Are dealerships still going to be overcharging for Chally’s next year? I’m ordering an SRT in Feb of next year in Hemi orange, but not if the dealership is gonna over charge like hell. The 2 chally’s in town (Columbus ,Ga) are listed for $61,000 dollars. I think dodge should curb all the dealerships that are doing this. I work hard for my money, I’ve served my country for 8 years and will proudly drive my Chally when i get it next year, but I am not paying over $45,000 for it. Anybody got any suggestions or comments about this?
No whining here… I just want one… 6 speed manual… Vrooooooom!
“THE TALE OF 2 DEALERSHIPS”. Dealer #1 (Dodge dealership in Cleveland, Ohio) . On December 3, 2008, my friend Jim places an order for two 2008 SRT’s; a deposit is placed and the saleswoman promises an MSRP price for both cars. Vehicle #1 (Jim’s car) – VIN#: 2B3LJ74W68H300376, VON# 21124783, Vehicle #2 (My car) – VIN#: 2B3LJ74W98H300386, VON# 21124834. Seven months of anticipation and excitement. Both cars make it to stripping and then we find out that the MSRP price is not going to be honored. Lots of phone calls with a new salesman, sales manager and GM. Games, misinformation and confusion galore. Dealership then agrees to sell one of the cars at MSRP but not the other. Jim and I decide to walk. Why play games with what we believe to be a bunch of unethical people. Jim is a great friend and if I could not get my car at MSRP then he refused to buy one.
Dealer #2 (Frederick Dodge of Bordman, Ohio). Owner personally calls you. Talks to you. Answers all of your questions and emails. First class customer service. Jim places an order for a 2009 Spring Special SRT. I have talked to Bob Frederick on a few occasions and plan on placing my order within a week, as I am undecided. Do I go with an Orange SRT or the B5 Blue R/T limited run?
Dealer #2 gets our business and future business. Gee, imagine if all the Dodge Dealerships did what Bob is doing; MSRP price and great customer service. Imagine how many cars Dodge would sell?
In the spirit of the Blog, my favorite options listed would be the Pistol Grip Shifter and the Classic R/T Package.
Well…I asked an actual dealer contact. I will post the answer…paperwork is paperwork for an order, shouldnt matter what car or truck it is to knock something off MSRP. Again, I know low allocations are another story. T-
Tom, I wondered the exact same thing. It makes no sense to me, it would have been one more order for the dealership. . . now it’s no order!
acx…what kind of delivery date did they give you?
just what I officially ordered last week
09 srt8
silver
6 speed / track pack
kicker system
I just wish canadian pricing was more inlin with US pricing but can’t have everything. I just pray there isn’t too long of a delay for the 6 speeds
“MOPARSRULE” YOU RULE! THESE ARE THE OPTIONS I WANT ON MY NEXT CHALLENGER.
Here is my question to perhaps Bob; What is the difference if a dealershp knocks 500-1000 off msrp for a Challenger R/T or a Charger R/T if it is a NEW customer ordered car??? IF in the end, they make a few thousand for either order, why should they care and how are the wo orders any different other than order process time? If it makes people buy the car why not sell it vs not taking any orders at all from people being ticked off? It is the same order process for either car, same level of work, there are no allocations on Challenger R/Ts so why not? Wouldnt it be better to sell 50 at 500-1000 off msrp vs 10 at msrp or more? Plus, when word got out you would be the hero dealership getting people to order more. Maybe even other Dodges…T-
I mean “medal” Bob!!!
The dealerships save a few, are commiting financial suicide for playing this greedy mind game; idiots. There will be a flood of the 2008s sitting on dealer floors and they’ll be calling us to buy at MSRP and probably below. The only smart one that I know is Bob Frederick; he got mine and some buddies of mine business for 2009 Challys. He’s helping Dodge survive; he is moving cars. He should get a metal from Dodge.
Yeah there are deals to be found out there. I personally would not even pay msrp for any car. I’ll be waiting til spring to get mine and won’t settle for less than $1000 off msrp. I can wait for the 2010 models to come out to pick up my 09 if need be but at that point I’d expect some manufacturer rebates as well. . .
Offer colored interiors to match the car like Ford did with the ‘02 to ‘o6 T-Bird. A yellow and black interior for a yellow car, or a red and black for a red car!l
I have spoken with dealerships here in the DFW area, and they all seem to think it was okay for them to buy all of the pre-orders on the 2008 SRT8 Challengers.
I strongly disagree. While I have no problem with a business trying to make money, what the dealerships have done went against the spirit of the pre-orders.
I’ve told these dealerships they may get the extra $10,000 markup on the Challengers from somebody, but it won’t be me.
jrejre an update for you…We have a dealership in the sticks selling R/Ts at MSRP. What I was impressed with is she put it in writing in an email. A step up from the big 4 Dodge Dealers in Rochseter NY. They just say stop down or call…I am happy it is at least starting to level. No friends and family yet, but it has to happen eventually for R/T orders…Hopefully Bob can give us the heads up if he sees these posts..T-
Tom, check out ebay. Buy it nows over $45,000 are just sitting there. Bidding is rarely getting up to 3 or 4 thousand over msrp now. I repeatedly see challenger auctions ending with no sale saying “reserve not met”. 2 months ago people spent 50 or 60 grand on a challenger that they could have waited for and gotten for msrp. The price gouging is just biting the dealers in the ass now and losing them customers. I asked one dealer if I could order an 09 in the fall for below msrp and he said they were selling 09s at over msrp! I said alright I’ll go somewhere else then!
Curtis, There is one sitting at a dealership in Rochester for $55000…I refuse to give the dealer because I hope they cant sell it for that price. It has sat for 3 weeks. They all have emailed me with cagey answers as well. They all claim and say “You know more about pricing than we do” when I send them MSRPs. Bums. We all need to boycott these. Sooner or later they will have to come down if they want sales in volumes. T-
Marketing Theory?
Chrysler Marketing is going to release colors for only certain years. They have purple, green, yellow, and orange Chargers released only in certain years to attempt to increase sales. Well you can see how well THAT worked. Just release all the colors! Capability is there. Stop counting the beans and LISTEN to what the customer is demanding! It is going to be tough to sell way it is with $4 a gallon…
MOPARSRULE I totally Agree! I think you will be able to do this with add ons if Chrysler fails to do it. It will be a matter of time before Cervini, etc. has these options. Plan on buying it stripped down without any stripes, and add what you want after they become readily available. Chrysler needs to look closer to demographics of buyers. What do you guys out there think? Do you expect buyers to be 35-55 range? I suspect younger guys will want Eclipses, and such. I would be curious to know the age of current buyers thus far. If it is us 60-70s fans, Chrysler should provide what we want. It would not be too difficult. It they can make purple PT cruisers why not a challenger? I recall someone painting a viper bright yellow back in the day when they were all red. T-
Classic R/T Package:
1. Choice of Sublime, Plum Crazy, or B5 blue.
2. Shaker hood or T/A hood with hood pins.
3. Side stripe from front of fender to the rear quarter panel ending in R/T or T/A.
4. Rear wing spoiler or lip T/A spoiler.
5. Chrome side exhaust pipes.
6. Rear quarter panel scoops in front of the wheel well like the ‘71 R/T Challengers.
7. Matching exterior color seat inserts.
8. Black Louvers for the rear window.
9. Classic Rallye wheel design.
10.Bigger tires on the rear.
Make this and every Mopar Lover will buy one whether they need the car or not. Are you listening or just pretending and letting your marketing staff lead you to bankruptcy. Come on…do you want to make a profit or keep making vehicles people don’t want? Do the right thing and make this car irresistable! You will make a killing off of this car.
I feel that lots of greedy dealers will be sitting on a bunch of 2008’s. If you have been tracking Ebay, the cars are not selling for the prices they once were. If the economy keeps going the way it is going I wonder how many of the people that ordered 2008’s will back out?
I will later post a story of how my 2008 and my friends 2008, ordered on December 3, 2008 at a promised MSRP price jumped 10K while the cars were in stripping. Very disappoiting but my friend just ordered a 2009 SRT from Bob and I will be ordering one soon (SRT or an RT).
Then that is about right my car should be in about the second week of Sept. Maybe that is why the dealer said 8 weeks being that the plant is down for two more weeks. I’m in no hurry I’m just happy I got it at MSRP and was able to order it the way I wanted it. With no sun roof. I’m old school and this car is just not right with a sun roof.
So reddog…they are saying it only takes 6 weeks to get an ordered car? The plant is down
until the end of July. They weren’t suppose to start making them until the end of July. Another poster said 10-12 weeks.
Well I went to a local dealer in the Los Angeles area and ordered a Challenger R/T and payed MSRP at $36300.00. I put $10000.00 down and the car will be in in about 8 weeks.
All pricing is on Dodge.com under build my own.
Chrysler you’re Plum-Crazy if you don’t add the classic Mopar purple & green.
BTW a dealer in Chula Vista (20 min south of San Diego, CA) advertised 5 new 2009 SRT-8 Challengers in this weekend’s paper. I’m sure it was a typo and they are 2008 models. No prices of course, I didn’t go see them becasue it would just chap my… to see $50,000 prices on them. It’s sad greed has to follow these cars around, but that’s life…
Leathal, According to Allpar.com, the manual transmission comes with resonators instead of mufflers. I dont see it listed under the track-pack package in the brochure though. Did I miss it in the brochure or was it pulled-out ?
Since this is suppose to be a classic..I want to hear the rumble of the Hemi. Maybe with Cat Bac (sp?) exhaust as an option. I had those on my Saleen, it was very cool. I have a Daytona Charger at the moment, and I guess it just isn’t ‘loud’ enough for a mean car. *S*
Tom, I now live in Florida, where no dealerships get back to me on pricing either. So while visiting Indiana, I went to sa dealer there and they can drop ship to a dealer in your area. I think that is what I am going to do. I think ‘Bob’ the dealer on this blog could probably do the same for you.
Are they going to allow a rear wing spoiler as an option??? Our dealerships in Rochester Lack this info…All they tell me is the car is great, come on down, it is only 15000 over MSRP
Lets get back to reality. I wish this markup was monitored better. I was originally told there were 5 SRTS ordered from customers, but if that were the case, how could the second one be on the lot for $55000? My guess is people are not wanting to pay the huge markup. Dealers in my area refuse to talk prices of RT’s as well. Guess we need to wait a year. T-
Can have your cake and eat it too? I am just glad the Challenger will be around for 5 year production. Ordered my 2009 SRT8 in Torred without the 20k dealer prep charge… REALLY wish white or yellow was available for SRT8. The bean counters at Chrysler better start listening to the BLOGs instead of Marketing. BECAUSE Marketing sure has NOT hit the sweet spot. Bring on the colors and who the heck needs heated electric seats and heated mirrors in a performance car that will not be driven in the winter?!
I think it is unanimous that everyone in the blog (or in the Mopar community for that matter) wants the classic R/T package and NOT in B5 blue but in Plum Crazy and Sublime. Further, it better have a shaker hood with hood pins. The side stripe better be on there as well, NOT the hood to fender stripe that looks like Joe Dirt had fun with black duct tape. Offer it now or I will just buy my friends old ‘Cuda and fix it up. Get the sales now before people start thinking about the purchase and get practical and buy a Prius.
It’d be nice to see some real life photos of the car in white, the photoshopped little pic on the website isn’t enough (and also torred on the website doesn’t look anything like torred and I’m not sure about the blue)
I’ve seen the one off pics of the vanishing point challenger too, but again, not very hi-res. There must be a real production white challenger somewhere you can take a picture of.
I really want to see green-go and a copper/bronze color on the challenger. . . If I wanted charger colors I woulda bought a charger!
I vote for “all of the above”, especially the 6-spd Track-Pak option.
If you don’t mind some further suggestions, allow me to echo the addition of some more bolder colors to the color roster. You can plainly see people want Sublime Green and Plum Crazy… so why not offer it? You CAN… and you SHOULD.
And while we’re on the subject of colors (again), I’d also vote for some more interior color choices instead of the boring old standard dull-as-dishwater dark grey. Again, you CAN do this… and you should.
SUBLIME - the Brampton factory is on shutdown from now until 7/27. Get the paint guns loaded with SUBLIME during this shutdown and surprise your loyal customers at the end of July with some great news - SUBLIME available on all 2009 models!
Yeah, I am pretty sure I am talking about the right color. Stone White looks like a good white until you get it next to a bright white or artic white car then the stone white looks off-white.
Are you sure you’re looking at the right color? Stone white is about as white as it gets.
my options;
CONVERTIBLE
6.4 HEMI
6 SPEEDS
SHAKER HOOD
HOOD PINS
BLACK VINYL ROOF
FM3 PANTHER PINK COLORS
A LA CARTE AS YOU WISH
THANKS CHRYSLER ENGINEER
The trak pak is my pick. I do like the T/A hood, but can’t find information on it anywhere. I would like to see bolder color choices and maybee some factory hood pins. I would like the white if it was really white, not the dirty stone white they offer.
Still waiting and wondering if and when the CONVERTIBLE option is coming.
IMO…all options and/or colors should be made available on all trim levels for anyone who wants to pay for it.
An a-la-carte “menu” of options.
Give us the primary colors and throw in the secondary colors(plum crazy, sublime etc).
Hey Dodge/Chrysler….get to it. This might be your last “ha-rah”.
Hello Dealer Bob and the Chally gang!!!
I finally got my Certificate of Orgin today (YAHOO!!!!)…. Now I am ready to go south……. It might not be like the motor trend blog but it will be fun for me!!!
Will keep you posted…

I would say the 6 speed. But you need to bring the bright colors. Us Mopar fans like to stand out.
Also with gas prices so high I think you need to consider a 5 speed with the SE model. It would help in the fuel mileage and it would also give the buyer that can not afford the high dollar cars a chance to feel like you are in a ” Muscle car”.
Actually I think the white looks great. But they’re listing it as some cool option for challenger buyers. A color that you can get on basically every car ever made is hardly worth voting for.
I agree with what someone else said, anyone buying a muscle car when gas is $4 a gallon (potentially 5 by the time the 09s come out) is not your average car buyer, not even if they’re getting the 6.
I think they should offer the 3.92 gear with the auto. It would kick some butt with the low gearing in the automatic.
also need to offer the shaker hood for the SRT and Sublime and Plum Crazy for 09 all models.
The way its going I won’t get my 09SRT till it’s time for them to offer the spring special. People want these things now not a few breadcrumbs sprinkled along the trail for a full package in 2yrs.
Unlike jrerje, I love the plain white paint. It looks better with stripes and a convertible roof. My ‘08 white Sebring has the heated/cooled cupholder which I like and the Nav system and U-Connect which works SUPER. It’s only missing the 5.7 Hemi with MDS. I hope the convertible also has “fancy seats”, lighted visors, and low restricted mufflers.
Unfortunately, I think the retro colors are going to be exclusive to the Classic R/T package. I know you can get Hemi Orange and TorRed on the regular models, but colors like B5, Plum Crazy, Sublime, Top Banana, etc, are only going to be on the Classic package, just like they’re only available on the Daytona Chargers. I’m not willing to pay $3-4K bump in price for a color, wheels, and stripes.
The Challenger is a different animal than the Charger though. I can see why a special package is needed to get a special color with the Charger…it’s a 4 door sedan, and the buyer segment is much, much different than that of the Challenger. Most people who buy 4 door sedans don’t want flashy colors. I imagine most people buying a 2 door muscle car in the face of rising gas prices want flashy colors over the usual sedate color pallet. I know I do.
Paint is nice and all, but how about that convertible with the shaker hood and the 6.4? Now THAT’S an option package.
Track Pack hands down. I like that it comes with the stability control off switch too.
I’m all about Plum Crazy and a gearbox!
6.4 would be worth the money! It would be
like an A-12 car from 69-1/2 fellers!
Plum crazy plz. and the hockey stick stripes, black vinyl top. Why the 3.73 gears with the 18″ wheels. I want the 3.92 gears suregrip diff.
I’m OK with Plum for 2010 if it means I can get a 6.4 though
Hmm, maybe I’m asking for too much. lol
Show this message thread to your boss.
We want PLUM CRAZY PURPLE and SUBLIME GREEN paint OPTION available NOW on all models, SE, R/T and SRT and not just the Challenger Classic R/T either.
Have the paint ready for the workers when they come back from break to build the 2009 Challengers. We don’t want to have to wait until 2009.5
Update the website and email the dealers, let’s get moving on this already!
It’s hard to believe you’d build a car like this and not offer Plum-Crazy & Sublime color choices. It’s not like we’re asking for all aluminum body panels.
It’s just paint that you already have. Please don’t make the mistake of saving this for 2010. If you don’t offer it now you’re going to lose even more sales than the economy & gas prices have already cost you.
Let’s face it this is an emotional purchase, not a practical one. Mopar people have always been a passionate breed and we want our Plum Crazy
Yep….as soon as they fix the color options and give us a choice other than the standard colors. I want Sublime w/manual trans!!
Im really wondering when the “challenger classic” will be available, and when they are going to release the pricing on it. Its really whats holding me back from ordering one right now.
I’m not sure about an extra $3000 for paint but I’d pay $300 or $400 for it.
I vote for Sublime and plum crazy colors. Oh wait, we can’t get those even though at the same plant they are shooting those colors on a 4 door. WAKE UP! I would pay 3k over to get those colors. Also my black SRT8 has been in quality control since June 21st what gives.
Yaaaahooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Dodge - we can now build our Challengers on your website!!!!!!!!
How about the classic R/T in B5, Hemi Orange, Sublime and Plum Crazy. Why have a classic package and not be allowed all of the classic colors?
“–Available white paint option on SE and R/T”
Lol. . . I have to laugh at this. White paint? That is a really amazing out there option for a car! It’s only offered on every single vehicle ever made. . .
“–Available sublime and plum crazy paint option on SE and R/T”
^^^^
That would be an option worth voting for.
Same as djwhog with the whole trac pak kit.
I think that all colors should be available for all engines/models in the future though. Make them x$ more if need be. I want plum on an SRT and others want plum on an SE, etc..
srt8 spring edition (b5blue)
Also 6 speed w/trak pak
PLUM CRAZY paint on the SE and R/T
(OH SORRY we can’t have that for 2009)
CLASSIC CHALLENGER look on an SE
(OH SORRY we can’t have that either)
My favorite option is the 26G package to improve the driving experience on the SE.
Oops, I meant the J package, not the F.
The track pack is the best option, and I’ll be getting it on my R/T. I just wish I didn’t have to step up to the F package and get the electronic convenience group to get the MyGig…that adds $3-4K of stuff I don’t want just so I can get one option I do want. Oh well. Now I just have to decide between Hemi Orange or Titanium Metallic (since Plum Crazy isn’t available).
Gotta say trac pak with the 6spd, and new posi 3.92 rear end along with it. I also like the no mufflers and resonators instead in their place.
Well and I like the added tored paint to for the SRTs and other paint choices and RT option of the car.
