Hey everybody, check out this video we shot when my Chally showed up at the crack of dawn the other day. I still get pumped up watching it roll off the truck! Bob, there are 38 Challenger’s, among 12 dealers, in my area for sale. All are SE’s and R/T’s with auto trans. There are no SRT’s, or any 6-speed manuals, to be found. What do you think is going on with that? I ordered my ‘09 SRT, 6-speed, back on July 19. As of 9/13/08, my dealer cannot provide me a VIN yet because it hasn’t been built. They estimated my delivery by mid October. I’m very interested to hear what you have to say. Thanks!

Hawgsrule: The badge # does account for, in order, each Challenger that has been completed at Plant 2. If two cars come off the line at Brampton, one behind the other, but one stays a few days longer in the inspection phase, and consequently arrives at the stripe plant and gets striped and badged a few days later than the other, the badge# would be several numbers apart. The cars are not considered built and complete until they are striped and badged.
I think that 7/25 may be a little ambitious, given that it still has a pretty lengthy railcar ride to Texas. Hopefully by the end of the month.

Yes, you are right, paint, especially new paint needs to breath in order to set up properly. I have a friend of mine who runs a hand car wash and also has a couple of Vetts, and I was talking to him about this coating also, and he said the same thing as you did, but he also said that he has some sort of wax that will take it off without damaging the paint. With the new paints today, they make them so fast drying that within 2 weeks they are already set. I don’t know if that is true or not, but I’ll ask around. Thanks again Bob.

That paint sealant that you’re speaking of,as far as I know, is not anything that is offered by Chrysler. I could be wrong on that, but in any case, I’m not real sold on stuff like that- I like good old hand waxing every so often and I would even wait a little while on that, because in my opinion, fresh pant needs to breathe the solvents out.

He also informed the service personnel that when it comes in to call me promptly. They didn’t give me a date, but I was happy to hear the news. Opted for a Silver 08′ Chally w/no sunroof and, no mygig (reduced risk of any longer term fault/leak or need for replacement of the mygig component). Sold to me at MSRP; what luck?

Still a keeper I say.

So, less than 640 of this color were made. Even rarer the number for those without the sunroof and or mygig.

And oh yeah, I am here in San Antonio Texas.

I had my car shipped last week to New Boston, Michigan, and it is still sitting there waiting to be shipped to Twin Oaks since 7-8-08. Bob said it should be shipped out this Tuesday or Wednesday, then it has to go all the way across the state of Pa. just to get to the dealer. I am only getting the exterior done. I think they said it would cost about $475. I don’t know how good it is, but I’ll try it. You can always remove it, it is only like a wax coating. I just wanted to protect the paint as much as I could. I do intend to keep it as long I live.

Bob, No, it’s not the coating for under the car. I misspelled the name of the coating, it’s Xzilon, it’s the coating they put on the body and the interior of the car to protect it against acid rain, bird droppings, etc, and you don’t have to wax your car and it has a 5 year warranty.

The Good news: I was driving on the interstate today and I was getting 18-20 mpg according to the car computer… I had the AC off and I was doing the speed limit (55-65 mph)…

The Bad News: In the city with a lot of stopping and going the MPG is around 11 mpg…..

Also in the bad news department, I check with my dealer today and still no Certificate of Origin…. Around my way the mail can be terrible sometimes…. I did not call you Dealer Bob because, I know you are busy man running your business and did not want to take you away from your costumers in your showroom and you do the Blog on a volunteer basis……. Waiting: The time between QC and Delivery can vary widely in the case of the Challenger, But I would say that normally it’s only 4-5 days if the Dealership is geographically close to the final assembly plant.

Freddie:As of yesterday, Your car is at the Railyard in Michigan awaiting a railcar. It should load up tonight and be on it’s way to Twin Oaks, Pa.

Floridahemiorange: Yours is staged for shipment across the Border as of today.

Kevin: The holds have been off since Thursday.

Crell: Your car is still Gatelined but should have Framed today or maybe tomorrow. From there I would think about 10 days to delivery.

Bob Simpson: Mileage on the odometer varies, but generally will be below 5. Mine for instance had 2. Your Dealer should fill your tank with fuel at delivery. The Dealer is reimbursed by Chrysler for fuel on each new car.

Challwait: Your car should Frame Thursday or Friday.

Taz Allen:If your Dealer requested a new MSO, it should come in a day or two. If you are getting jacked around, call me and I will make sure that one is on its way.

StillWaiting: Your car is staged for shipping across the Border.Should catch a railcar by Friday, and reach your Dealer in Wisconsin by the end of next week hopefully.

Ithinkigotmine: Your car was released to the Shipper today(KZ). Looks like you’ve got a bit of a railcar ride ahead, but it’s ready to cross the Border to the Railyard now. I would say about 2 weeks to the Dealer.

We saw this with the PT cruiser as well, not that there is any comparison with the cars other than the INSANE mark-up.

Available in Auto Stick or 6- Speed Manual with Track Pak. No pricing has been released yet. Orders will probably open up late in the 4th Quarter.

MonkeybuttSRT: Yours is built but one of those that shipped to storage unfortunately. Hopefully it gets released and shipped to the stripe plant soon.

The car is more then I have ever imagined it would be. It had less then 2 miles on it upon my arrival and was secured in a building by itself. The paint, the trim, the interior, the lines, the ride, the handling, the tires, the wheels, the power and yes even the luxury features are far above what I ever expected.. I have to say if a car can be perfect then this one is. I’m sorry, it’s not a car, it’s my first Automobile..

The quality, fit and finish is extremly nice. However, I think the car sits too tall, and too wide. You can sure tell it was built on the charger chassis. All the chally fans and Dealer Bob I hate to disappoint,I did not spin tires,burn rubber or nothing like that but, you should have seen the show that the other drivers on the road were doing….. In a 40 mile round trip,I think I seen nearly 3-5 near accidents. People were slowing down,turning heads (like an owl) and few nearly hit other cars and a few more nearly ran off the road………. Not bad for a Friday night (and my father was in the passanger seat in disbelief).. Also where we stop to get a cold drink,some teenagers took pictures (I hope my dad smiled for the carmera).

It is a masterpiece on wheels…….. and the Chally’s good looks can stir up a little mayham too…:)

I haven\’t seen the 1st car but it is rumored to be running around town here somewhere. I also understand that another dealership up here ordered several cars but they apparently were doing some of the unethical stuff that everyone has been talking about and \”Pissed Chrysler corp. off\” and are only going to receive the 1 car promised to every dealer. I did get to see two at a show a dealer puts on here in CT this weekend. One of the sales staff who knew I have one coming told me to please stop drooling on the car. Pictures are nice but seeing them, the car is beautiful!
