About the Dodge Brand
With a U.S. market share of 6.4 percent, Dodge is Chrysler LLC’s best-selling brand and the sixth largest nameplate in the U.S. automotive market. In 2007, Dodge sold more than 1.3 million vehicles in the global market.

The Dodge brand’s first crossover vehicle — the all-new 2009 Dodge Journey — is now available, and will be available outside North America in petrol and diesel powertrains in both left- and right-hand drive in mid-2008. The limited-edition 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with a 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 engine that boasts 425 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque hit the streets in the spring of 2008. Later in 2008, Dodge will add three more new vehicles to its product lineup—the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram with game-changing exterior and interior design, innovations, best-in-class features and craftsmanship; the all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger, a modern interpretation of the American muscle car; and the 2009 Dodge Durango Hybrid, a hybrid-electric vehicle that combines fuel efficient advanced hybrid technology with full-size SUV performance and capability. Recently, the all-new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan arrived in dealerships with 35 new or improved features including the newest innovation, the Swivel ‘n Go seating system. In 2007, Dodge Avenger and Nitro entered key volume segments outside North America, joining the Dodge Caliber, which launched in those markets in 2006.

Sales for Chrysler 300’s dipped by 60% last month if you look at: www.allpar.com so stop making the 300’s and start making alot of Challengers instead before people start thinking about gas mileage. Offer all the models in High Impact colors as well, especially Sublime and Plum Crazy. You are going to lose your chance to sell cars and miss the boat again. Get those Challengers to the dealerships. Thanks!

He decided to cancel the contract and sell it to the highest bidder once the car hit the ground… I’ve now heard that I was not the only one that this happened to… Is there any recourse? Is there anything that people in my position can do? Is this legal? I did call Chrysler Customer Service but the call was routed to India and I was kept on hold for over 1 hour. TexasMopar, such is life in Canada; there is no explaining a lot of what goes down north of the line. I imagine the reason the Challengers are delayed in Canada is due to commitments made at various levels of management to satisfying the US market as part of the terms for Brampton being awarded the assembly contract. Being Canadian built has more to do with cost efficiencies related to Brampton’s assembly of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Magnum than it does with shipping Canadian built cars to Canadians.
Having said that, I was updated today by my dealer that they are expecting 70 of the 500 Canadian ‘Challenger 500’s’ to be shipped to the western provinces (think west of the Mississippi, only north) starting early July. He has 3 allocated to his dealership, having pre-sold 5; it will be interesting to see how that plays out…

For God sake, the cars are assembled in Canada, I think it is only fair that Canadians should get the cars when Americans get them. Why should Canadians be punished for making cars for Americans?

cdnmopardude, your dealer experience here on Canada’s left coast has eerie parallels to mine. I visited 3 dealers in the Lower Mainland, was told by one they knew absolutely nothing about the RTs, and one said I could expect delivery of an RT in 2010 only if I put down a deposit of $5k immediately. The third dealer’s salesman disputed the US MRSP for the SRT as posted on the website when I directed him there, but upon a second visit with the US order guide in hand, was able to put down a more reasonable deposit ($2k) on an RT and a promise to call me as soon as they heard from Chrysler Canada on opening up the 09 orders. I dealt directly with the Sales Manager at this dealer, and had a much more positive experience, although even he admitted I was way more on top of the situation than they were. If you reference the blog at http://blog.chryslerllc.com/blog.do?id=363&p=entry#comments you will see that they are now, as of last Friday, advising the Canadian dealers should get order info sometime this week.
    Good luck to you…

Wow. reddog’s story about the GT500 says it all. I went to one dealer in Coquitlam, BC to order an ‘09 SRT hemi orange 6 gear and was told that ‘09 was the first year for the Challenger, only R/T’s were avaibale in 6 speed and that I’d get one in late 2010. When I told them politely that ’08s were all SRT8 models in auto, the salesman laughed and said to me “what do I know I only sell them”. Then he once again said I was wrong and there was no ’08s. I told him to then contact Dodge and correct the website which has ’08s and ’09s on it. Another salesman at this point also laughing replied “yeah I’ll get right on it!” I left angry at the ridicule and drove down the road to Maple Ridge BC and put a deposit down on an ‘09 at a different dealer. The service there was much better! Dodge what happened to “the customer is always right” and even a basic rule of customer service-don’t ridicule your customers? Perhaps some of your dealers’ salesmen could go to a Ford or Honda dealer for training on how to sell cars - I am not joking, I like Dodge hence why I still ordered my Challenger. The kicker is I most likely make double what those obnoxious salesmen make and they lost my sale. Peace Out

I have found out more about something I am buying than the person selling it knows just by reading/watching the internet ! Sad….. if I or anyone else waited to buy based on the dealers info NO ONE would have placed any orders and SURELY would not have plunked down a $5,000.00 deposit for the car.

Moparman/Moparsrule, both are 100% correct. The AMERICAN car industry has been “foreignized”. The Challenger (retro)and Mustang (retro) are a step in the right way as far as I and many others are concerned. Tha Camaro has a 50/50 Us-Jap look to it and many die hard Camaro fans aren’t very happy. On the other hand the “kids” love it, the problem here being most of them can’t afford the cars OR the insurance. Chevy should have aimed it more at the “baby boomers” that can actually remember the car instead of the bunch that hangs out at the mall and have stereo competition (woohoo). Sadly it is also somewhat true for the Challenger and the Mustang group, the $$$ factors for both are high. 95% of the new cars are designed to make the new generation that has has been brain washed to think the new cars are MUSCLE CARS. Give me a thumping V8, the “modern muscle cars” sound like my ass after a night of Mexican food… Just my 2 cents.

Yes, NASCAR has come down to Chevy standards, they were obviously bought out…

Rock, right you are about the “coronet 500″. I was just being “modern car specific”. What I mean is, it seems like many people want the new challenger to litterally BE what the new charger isn’t, but the original charger was.

IE, one person on autoblog once said he hoped they’d come out with a “dukes of hazzard version” of the new challenger. Uh, yeah….And I’ve heard people say they should put the “superbee package” on the new challenger, huh?

It’s kinda like putting the “daytona package” on a truck. EEEEEWWWWWW!

If dodge wants to make a daytona, then it should be a retro looking 2-door charger daytona. Same with superbee, gtx, roadrunner, well you get the idea. Lets not put all our old model names/performance packages onto one modern car and call it good. Just my opinion.

On that note, what happenned to cars like chevelle, impala, malibu. The “new versions” of some of those cars from the 60’s & 70’s kinda suck too huh? It’s almost like there wasn’t as big a following for some of those cars, because I heard absolutely nothing from anybody when they came out with the malibu front wheel drive family crap car. Kinda strange, I think.

I will second what Rock said. NASCAR can be bought. It is suppose to be the “National” Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, yet the cars aren’t even the stock cars from the factory any more and Toyota is not a national automaker. Their headquarters are in Japan and most of the parts and profits are from and go to Japan. Mopar dominated NASCAR when they had to start out with a stock car. Now you have to build a car that conforms to Chevy specs. Lets go back to racing stock cars and the Busch/Nationwide Series should consist of Challengers, Mustangs and Camaros.

There was also a Coronet “500″ model in ‘66(?) ‘67 ‘68 and if not mistaken ‘69. The Coronet was a higher priced one and the Charger had the flush grill and back window as the most noticable items. It was an aero package for the Charger to make it more slippery for NASCAR… Speaking of NASCAR, is anyone else tired of every car looking the SAME ???? The only difference is under the hood. It’s BORING anymore… Chevy and Ford couldn’t beat the HEMI’s and the wing/nosed Daytona’s and Superbirds so they petitioned (Boo Hoo’d) NASCAR and got thier wish. THIS is reason why the Chevy ad says CHEVY the most winningest car in NASCAR. Your ASS !!! NASCAR has a-l-w-a-y-s been GM ! Drop the GM ass kissing rules and “run what ya brung” again, watch Chrysler eat them ALIVE !

Sooo I placed my order for an ‘09 SRT, which was fine cause I REALLY wanted the 6 speed tranny. It will be Tor red with a sun roof SRT group II, 6 sped/pistol grip and the better tires. The VON is 2206299.

Ladyluck, I wasn’t sure if you meant the race or the car, but Daytona and 500 were charger models. Unfortunately the use of teh word muscle and the word charger togeather is no longer truthfull nor inspiring. There will be no true charger daytona or charger 500, unless the charger goes retro.

I keep hoping, but hope only goes so far.

Just think of the lead chrysler would have had if they had gone retro with the charger. Now,they are taking second place to the mustang, nothing personal stang owners.

My body work estimate for my 69 charger is soo high at this point, I don’t know if I could afford even a se-v6 challenger now. That really sucks!

Oh, and I’m not wild about those stripes either. Perhaps if they went all the way across the hood, they would look better…

However, choices are good so everyone doesn’t drive around in the same looking car. As long as it comes in Plum Crazy and Sublime, I don’t care what kind of stripe they put on it!

It’s called listening to your audience. For you to suggest you can’t buy one if you complain is asinine but I agree that if you don’t like it don’t buy it. Duh…

But come on Dodge, help us shivering Canadians out a bit here. The Dodge Canada website STILL doesn’t have any pricing info. The Canadian Dodge Dealers I’ve tried to talk to about this car act like they don’t give a f*#k about their potential Challenger customers. And then we just get hate from our American neighbors with comments like “Canadians excluded for good reason.” Why so negative? And Dodge Canada, why so uncaring? As for not liking the stripes, Mike, you should still be able to call your dealer at this point and modify your order if you do not want to have them. I’ve modified my order I think about 3 times total so far and Bob Frederick was happy to modify my order each time (sorry for the indecisiveness, Bob!). This is a new Dodge Challenger that gives tribute to the old Challenger. It’s not an exact clone but does an excellent job of paying homage to its brethren.

Once done there could you put real headlamps in where those amber running lights are and then surround them with some LED’s? If it’s not too much trouble could you make the exhaust actually terminate in a squared off pipe instead the dumb looking circle in box? Furthermore toss in a couple wang-dangled butterfly dealios to the hood that flip open when you hit the gas please. In reality, the GT500 and skyline GTR have better performance for about the same price. The not finalized yet 2010 Camaro also goes that way. I hope 2010 also bring the 6.4 as an option so we stay on top of the heap in performance and of course, the already unbeatable looks. 420ft/lb of torque is already more than required but the original challenger had 490ft/lb so there’s always that ‘yeah but..’ coming up.
