Okay everybody- Here’s one that we got done that will allow you all to track your ‘08 Challenger orders! Your order has to be at Gateline (D1) Status or further to be tracked and you will need the following three pieces of info:
1. First Name as it appears on the order
2. Last Name as it appears on the order
3. Last eight digits of the VIN
The system is set up exclusively for ‘08 Challenger SRT8’s.
The link that you need to go to is:
http://www.dodge.com/2008/challenger/ordertracking
Put in that info and track your car!
Don’t forget it has to be at least in “D1″ Status.

I am NOT having any luck. My dealership provided me a VIN#, but I have yet to track any info. It’s been about 3 three weeks now. According to them, my order went in 12/5/07. Is it true that some 2008 orders might roll over?
whats going on!?????????????
my srt 8 has been in stage j completed /inspected and what its just sitting there waiting on a rail car or a truck????
HEY BOB WHATS LATEST???????????????
WOOLF
SAN ANTONIO
“waitingforchallenger” how cool is that name. you should have been a psychic.
my car should be shipping to me by now!
damn india customer service lied to me!
my car is still being inspected.
as a matter of fact , i called brampton today and was really lucky to get through. they are screening out all the calls now, and i had to use a back-up number. fortunately i got a sympathetic ear. i was told that ALL the cars that have been through the trim shop are outside in the parking lot getting picked apart by inspectors. i was told that NO car will leave the factory unless it is perfect! Good in a way i guess.
FRONTYARDRESTOGUY, shouldn’t your car be at JB (Upfit for stripe) by now?
Clo and von number,
Thanks kindly for the info. That is the kind of information that I would have expected my dealership to have had.
A little disappointment in that the 09’s can now be ordered, yet those of us who ordered 08’s really have no idea if we are going to get our car or not, Mine is finally in D status, and has a vin # Though still no guarantees I will get it. My chances of getting a 08 are better than some (because I believe in Santa Clause), so I will have to wait while 09’s are being ordered and HOPE that I do not end up in the back of the line for an 09. Hey that rhymes (Back of the line for an 0-9.)
turasque… Bob had posted somewhere on one of these blogs that the 08’s do not (repeat) do not roll over. He suggested that you don’t cancel the 08 order just in case, but to place a new order for an 09.
turasque posted:
My dealership told me yesterday that my ‘08 order might roll over to an ‘09 automatically. Does anyone know if you have to put in a separate order for the ‘09?
With so many options for the O9 models I doubt it would roll over automatically. Wouldn’t you want to change a few things to your original order if you were not going to get an 08?
Bob
Did your car go back into D Status? Your car does not show up any more on Tracking Page.
My dealership told me yesterday that my ‘08 order might roll over to an ‘09 automatically. Does anyone know if you have to put in a separate order for the ‘09?
Why do the dealers not know this information?
Does anyone know if the ‘08 orders will rollover to ‘09 automatically?
NOTSURE, I think it is great that you were able to order one already. But as of right now the dealers in my area can not even order one. They maybe not willing to order until they see a price list??? Who knows????? Anyways good luck to ALL????
Seems to me true customers knew the order day for the 09’s.
I can also confirm that Dodge opened the order banks for the 09’s. I have an 09 SRT8 (manual) on order thru HXC Performance at www.hxcperformance.com and they informed me of the same fact.
Once again, thanks Dodge for leaving your true customers in the dark. Nobody even knows that you can order an ‘09! The part that really amazes me, is that I still have no idea where my ‘08 is! I’ve been in D status since the second week of April! I’m going to have an ‘08 that comes out 1-2 months before the ‘09 does. Thanks for really letting me get to enjoy that “low production, limited edition” car! Your customer service is truly amazing??

NOTSURE, where did you here 09 order banks are open? I can not find this news anywhere.
09 order banks are open and the SRT8 in hemi orange is an option!!
Thankyou Bob for getting this done for us all!
You da man!
Bob,
Shed some light on the situation. (Status)What is the latest and greatest. D1 Forever
customer service says car has passed inspection and is now in j status
car has made it to i status as of 5/9/08
I agree FRONTYARDRESTOGUY, there is something up with the unofficial tracker. I see see four orders after one of mine, 3 at C and 1 at D, while mine is still at BG. This order is actually my second, the first one was fifth in line back on 12/05/08. I called about twenty dealerships in MI until I found one where I would be first in line. Tell me how an order placed 4/10/08 in Novi MI (probably a dealership I called) is in C status? I think some of the posts on there are just to get people going.
sorry, just trying to let everyone know that cars are starting to progress. i know i have one of the earliest orders in, so i figured i would give an update. by the way, something is up with srtmike’s order. there is no way his car is getting inspected if he ordered on 1/10/08.
That’s right Frontyard rub it in my car just went to D as of yesterday. maybe another month if i’m lucky.
Whats the latest Bob? No Movement, still zzzzz in Confermation (D1)Sugest estimated delivy date added to Tracking website. Real Time data???
my car was painted 5/8/08 and is now getting trim, just like i will be when the car comes in!
my car has made it to painting as of 5/7/08
I spoke to Dodge Customer service yesterday, and the ST specifically told me that this web site it not accurate (10 year veteran, not a dude in India). He also indicated that the data is not real-time and told me not to trust it.
My car is in D1, has a VIN, and does not show up on site, so I called in.
I also learned that many of these cars may be heading overseas due to the demand of them in Japan and China. Check with your dealer folks to determine his/her allocation of vehicles, this customer support person was brutally honest indicating that many dealers have taken deposits (interest free loans) never intending to sell you the car.
I also learned that some dealerships won’t even get an allocation due to the low volume of sales that have. He indicated that this was the case when the Viper, Cruiser, and Prowler was released. He mentioned that the demand was no where close to these Challengers.
He indicated that even if you have a VIN and a VON, that unless the dealer is allocated that car, you still stand the chance of not getting it.
There are close to 3000 dealerships in the US. 6400 cars— do the math folks. I do hope everyone who ordered it get’s one, but I am concerned.
If you call the customer service number ,you will probably talk with someone from India. Thats right I said “India”, because Dodge has out sourced that function to India. Two weeks ago I also was told that my car had already been produced and was on the way to the Dealership. Then they said they were mistaken and had read the codes wrong. Take some good advise………..Forget everything you have heard or hear from anyone “EXCEPT” Bob Frederick. He in my opinion,is the only one that gets valid information and passes it on to us. Sometimes the news is not what you want to hear, but he is pretty much dead on with his info. Save your self alot of grief and headaches, LISTEN TO BOB ! Best of luck to all.
just got off the phone with chrysler and now it is in a D status. how can it go from a C to being at the dealer back to a D now go figure
Ok guys here a good one. I called chrysler to find out the status on my car after giving them my Reff# and VIN the guy who’s name is Austin put me on hold after a few min he gets back on the line and tells me it is already at the dealership. I ask him 3 time are you sure and he told me he asked his supervisor to make sure this was correct and that i need to get with the dealership so i did. all that did was piss off my dealer he told me that if it was here he would have called me as it was comeing off the truck. well i get a call back about 10 min later and he asked me what number i called i told him it was the same one i’v been calling told him the whole story what was said and he said he was gonna have his GM get in volved now my car has been in a C status from day 1 with no change except that now i have a VIN. any help here ? i don’t know what to think any more.
Thanks for the update Bob, Now is the time for patience on our part. I (just like others) have been wore slick over this whole process, but it appears that the ball is starting to roll. I am just glad to be able to watch the process as it unfolds, your car or mine, it does not matter at this point, at least there’s movement somewhere. Thanks again Bob.
Okay, sorry I haven’t responded more quickly, I’m out of town and my laptop was acting up yesterday and today. My service Manager just fixed it though, so we should be good to go. Other than travel/meetings interupting.
The are several Status Codes that can come into play as an order progresses from input to delivery. I will cover the most common ones:
When the order is punched in, it goes to “BA” Status which means order received.
Then it will move to “BX” if it’s a good order available for schedule. If not it could go to many different “B” status codes but I’ll cover two: “BE” which is edit error, in which a coding error is present and must be corrected before being considered for schedule. “BG” which means it passed edit but can’t be considered for scheduling.(For a variety of reasons like scheduled out).
A BX order can then move to “C” Status which is tentative schedule.
Then it can become “D” Status which is Firm Schedule at which point a serial number is assigned.
Next is “D1″ which is Gatelined which means the plant has sequenced the order for production and an estimated ship date is assigned.
Build codes then follow:
“E” is Framing
“F” is Paint
“G” is Trim
The unit is built at this point and goes to “I” which is final inspection.
“J” is unit passed final inspection
“JB” in the case of Challenger, unit is shipped to Upfit Center(For stripe).
“KZ” means unit released by plant and Invoiced.
“KZR” Vehicle within a few days of Dealer. Don’t usually see this code though.
From “KZ” it usually takes a few days to a week or so to get to dealer. Geographic distance of Dealership from plant can impact time of delivery.
I hope this helps and doesn’t confuse everybody.
Bob
I think this whole thing is (BS) Time to make a mission to brampton canada. ooh Rah
Bob,
Its been quite ! This can’t be good. Whats going on? I havn’t seen any success (Comments) or movement on this status link. What is the latest from Brampton?
According to “MikeSRT8″ on the http://challengertracker.tcp-net.com site, his car is in F status, which is paint. I have been in D1 status for almost 3 weeks now and have not budged. I’d really like to hear something. MikeSRT8, can you confirm this and give the rest of us some new info?
Has anybody progressed further than d1 confirmation yet?
tired of waiting i bought a 67 charger to help kill the time.
Bob, This is nuts!! I don’t see why Dodge needs to do this, we all know the Challenger is coming . Why can’t they give some respect to the customers that have dished all this money. I am not able to afford the SRT8 so I have to wait until they decide when to open orders for the 2009 models. I understand that Nascar is running the Dodge Challenger 500 at Darlington this weekend , Are they waiting for that ?? Oh what am I thinking that would make sense. I know this is not your fault and we do appreciate the info you do give us!!!
This is getting rediculous; at the time it matters most, you can not get through to customer service. I called yesterday, the system was down so they could not look anything up. I called today, and was on hold for 25 minutes before I hung up. I have a car in D1 status and have no information about delivery STILL! Their nifty little tracker doesn’t even work! On top of all of it, my dealer gets the same crap service when they call on my behalf.
RLD, how about some pictures from the actual plant showing some challengers coming of the line and maybe even a picture or video of the 1st challenger (or first batch of challengers) rolling of the line?
ok Bob i got one for you
my car was orderd on 12/03/07 at 11:55 AM PT
my VON# is 21126577 and a valid VIN#8H300664
and has been stuck in a C ststus ever scince day one and is not moveing at all why is this and how much longer do i have to suffer?
Bob,
Would you describe each status a car goes through from order to delivery?
Thanks,
pdjames
Sorry, it should read 12/03/”07″ not 08.
Thanks Bob, yes I do have a signed letter stating that I get the first car the Dealership gets, so I am sure that there is no problem as far as that goes. If you look at the website set-up by Venthos on 5-3( thanks Venthos) there appears to be cars with higher VIN numbers as well cars that were ordered on 12/4/07 that are in “D1″ status while cars with an order date of 12/3/08 are still in “D” status. Is that possible?? Again , Thanks Bob!!
Has anyone who is in D1 status been able to successfully track their order on this site yet?
No,it doesnt take a week to make a car. It typically takes 2 or 3 days once a car is framed to roll off the line. With these SRT8’s, once they roll out the door they have to go to the upfit center to have the hood tape stripe applied. So it will delay shipping to the dealer a few more days over what it would normally take.
Capitalcarz:
There really is no pre-determined amount of time that an order stays in “D” Status. The fact that Dodge opened up ordering so far in advance of the actual production of the car made them hang in “C” Status for what seemed like forever. In fact,as I pointed out in an earlier comment, my Challenger order went from Gatelined(D1)with a firm date, back to “D” Status. An order could move to “D1″ at any time once they have the capacity to fit it in the schedule. Your car, especially if it’s the dealer’s first car, should move to D1 soon.
Thanks,
Bob
Bob, How long does a car stay in “D” status before it goes to “D1″ status so we can track it? Seems like I have been stuck in “D” status for eternity. Thanks!
Excellent to hear that production has officially started! I can’t wait until I have my car. For once I held back from harassing my local dealers and didn’t call them this week about my car
However you can be sure that I’ll be calling this coming week! It can’t come soon enough.
For those of you with 2008 Challengers on order, I encourage you to visit the Unofficial tracker I’ve created for us here:
http://challengertracker.tcp-net.com
It’s a basic script that allows us to keep track of all of our fellow 2008 Challenger soon-to-be owners and watch their Status as well as see who ends up with what plaque number out of 6400. It would be awesome to see the majority of the 6400 cars end up listed on that page so we can see where they are all over the country.
If you have 30 seconds, punch in your car to the site.
well i hope “mopar bob” is right about there not held over after production as far has inspection and released by mid june? but thats what i was told from a ohio dodge dealer , that per qoate “THE DIST REP” of mopar…..SAID…i have (2) SRT8’s coming (1)for my business and (1) for pleasure…i want them as bad as everbody else , but this deal has been a big let down to this point!
IT TAKES A WEEK TO PRODUCE THE FIRST ONE! Others will probably follow every 20 minutes
so what your saying Bob is that it takes a WEEk to produce 1 Challenger is that right ?
It is possible that the Canadian Dealers don’t have access to VONS or VINS yet because they are handling the allocation of Challengers in Canada differently.
I believe that all of the Challenger SRT8 500’s are being built for Chrysler Canada and then will be distributed to the dealers, so the dealers would not know the VIN or VON of their cars until they are distributed.
There is a possibility that the Challenger Tracking Program that we just rolled out yesterday here in the States, will be adopted for Canadian Buyers after the cars are distributed. Let’s hope so.
The last 3 numbers in the VIN have nothing to do with what # Challenger that your car will be.
Also, there is no truth to the statement that all Challengers will be held until Mid-June. When they roll out completed, they are getting shipped to dealers.
Speaking of that, Retail Production began this past Monday(4/28), and the first Retail Production Challenger will roll off the line on Monday, May 5th!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bob
I do not want the 09 with the other Hemi . I will cancel if I do not get the 6.1. I do have a vin # of my 08 and expect that to the 6.1 and that is what I paid for.
hello there, i have been reading the blogs since they started, and i have seen other vins? if the #1 car’s last (3)digits are the ### in the order they are built , i must have the pilot car?
anyway this came straight from my dealership today “mopar rep” and he said all the 08 challengers built will be held for a final inspection? and should be released by mid june!
why dont they just serial# the first 6,400 of them and call them a 09? we will be driving a new car for just (6)months? by then they will all be parked and on display because of gas prices……..
Bob, in Canada, I was told that our dealers do not have access to VONs or VINs, they say they have to take whatever DODGE delivers! Does this make sense to you? If correct, then us Canadians just have to sit here in the dark again…. But thank you Bob, for all your work on getting answers for us.
mine is stuck in C and i’m really starting to lose it.
My order went back to D1 status today and the system works great!!!! thanks Dodge!
I cant get this to work. Maybe they cancelled my car.
Great news… thank you Dodge for listening and Thank you Bob for giving us as much info as you can… Bob can you post on here when Dodge actually begins production?
I cant wait to get my 09 vin this is very cool…
It’s a wonderful thing! No more being placed on hold and drop calls. Lets see if it works.
Thanks Bob
