Sightings #1: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Shows Up
Apr 30, 2008 at 4:47PMOne of the good things about working around Dodge is seeing some of the first company-owned vehicles floating around. Some will be for testing, some for media reviews and other purposes. Who cares what they’re for…they’re great to look at. Has anyone seen one on the road?
We should (hopefully by tomorrow) have some video for you to look at. May should be a great month here on RLD. Get ready…

You would think that with all the job losses and buyouts, that Chrysler/Dodge would be in a hurry to sell and build a car that actually has buyer interest!
What kind of game is going on here?
Better hurry up and start building because with the economy tanking your target market is rapidly shrinking. Even well heeled Boomers are holding back on discrestionary spending. And lets face, this car would be a discrestionary purchase item. Nevermind most 20-somethings, they can barely afford a 14k Asian import.
Give us the facts and start building!!
Bob, my order has been stuck in C status since it was ordered never moving forward or back just C status. I am trying to be patient but it would be nice to know, before they start taking orders for the 09’s that I am actually going to get it or not? Dodge must have some sort of plan by now as to how they are going to determine who gets the cars they ordered and who will not, so why not let us all know? Then those who are not going to get an 08 can start planning on ordering a 09? Come on and spill the beans before the next big thing arrives.
Awe-Come-On,
I was simply clarifying to the earlier post that said the car was an R/T, that it is an SRT, with 20’s not 18’s - explaining the “look” in the wheel well -
ease up man - sheesh
The car is badass - period. I have an 08 on order and can’t wait…and will clean it every chance i get.

Please change your screen name or add numbers to it please.
I suspect you had chosen the name not knowing I had the name already for weeks now or your a fan of the movie Idiocracy which by the way was hilarious!
Please so there is no confusion here make a change asap to you login name.
Thankyou,
NOTSURE
I’m interested in adding a sun roof and GPS in black since they chose the wrong gray again for the SRT8. The only way to pick a color is to see it in person and not in a brochure or worse, the Web.
I’m possibly willing to pay sticker for this one car ~$42K since I’ve never paid sticker, but the comments I’ve heard about my local market agreeing to add $10K above MSRP is the wrong move in my book. They can kiss my @$$. There are plenty of suckers out there since this car is NOT going to be worth $50K now, or ever. Dodge better have fixed their fit and finish problems on this model if they plan to command that price.
You better believe I’d be looking at basic quality flaws at the $40K price and one of the reasons I didn’t go for the Charger SRT8. And anyone would be an idiot to accept anything less. At $50K I’d be more than happy to get a BMW 5 series.
So what you’re really trying to say is that one should not drive their car otherwise a simple cosmetic flaw would ruin the car’s image? Should someone stop at every stop light and clean the tires and the wells to make it look shiny and clean?
Maybe that’s why people put in 28″ dubs.
Thats an SRT in the pic - rims specific to SRT as well as those bright Brembos peakin’ out — i think the dirty tires and wheel wells next to the deep black paint are visually fudgin it…
I’ve seen a black one on Telegraph, and a silver one on I-94. It looks better in person!
The car is a R/T with 18 inch wheels thus the gap in the wheel well.
Hey NotSure(all lowercase) we cant wait to hear what car your buying ?
SRT?
RT?
SE?
I love the look in black its one mean machine!
Thats why I picked black go figure.
Hey NotSure why dont you like it?
Whats wrong you say the wheel wells dont look right,lol……..
The picture is so dark you cant see the car.
Dont we all know you from the Dodge challenger forum as boobukus/Davidbush or some other handle.
What a shame you have so little originality you have to steal anothers name here on this forum however its about your speed!
Hey,what model did you order I know we are all curious.
Do tell.
LaRooster, I could not agree more. The whole thing has been poorly handled by Dodge. I deal in Classic and Special intrest cars on a regular basis as well as buying and selling at the Specialty auctions. And no matter who you talk with, all I hear is people mention their distaste for Dodge in general over the lack of providing feed back or information to their customers. I am sure they read these blogs, but are they really listening to anybody.
WHY is it that Dodge refuses to keep their Challenger customers up to date as far as what is going on with their vehicles? WHEN will 2008 production REALLY start? WHEN will 2009 order banks open up?
It’s a GOOD thing that there have been some very reliable insiders posting information on the net over the past year or we would know NOTHING at all!
Hopefully this isn’t the case but this picture doesn’t do the car justice. Something about the wheels/tires and gap, and the rear looks too thick.
Hopefully this car doesn’t suffer from color mismatches of the front and rear bumpers like the Chargers. I just got my Charger out of the shop after someone rear ended me and the rear bumper now matches the body color.
The body shop owner showed me the paint numbers matching my VIN and looks like there are a couple similar colors. One probably used for the metal and the other for the plastic painted elsewhere.
nice to see it
And we hope with the arrival May tomorrow wee know more about the 2009 price, date of starting production, date starting order, and date to pick this new one 09 six speeds.
I see pre-production challengers on the road on almost a daily basis on M14 between Dexter and Plymouth (MI).
So exciting…
