Back in the day, folks referred to holidays as "Red Letter Days" because of their color on calendars. They were times of excitement, tradition and celebration. Well, that's how we feel about the New Dodge and frankly, we've always had a special place in our hearts for red.

Guys great car will we see them this year?
they did a good job with the tailights, i like them better than the concept. but they ignored the option to make the decklid like the original challenger, with the tail solid and the decklid closing down on top might have benn easier
I put an initial deposit down four on July 8,2006. Four days after Dodge said the Challenger was a “go”. On December 3,2007, I was required to put down another sizable deposit to secure my order,(this came after arguing that I was #1 in line for the vehicle since they took my initial deposit in 2006) When the dealership placed my order with the 22x package(all options), I was told that my price would be in the low 40’s for the car. Since then, my price has gone up to over $60,000,(they refused to give me a written contract)and come to find out that they have another written contract with a third party. That is called fraud. The dealer is only being allocated one Challenger. Dodge corporate states that they are not responsible for the actions of the dealers, they are privately owned business entities; how covenient. Corporate has to take some responsibility in this situation afterall, the private dealers are the extended arm that sells their product. This has been the most regretable purchasing experience I have ever encountered. Yes, I have a VIN # assigned, and I still don’t know if I am going to get the car, and for what price the dealer is going to extort from me. The Connecticut State’s Attorney’s office is investigating on behalf of the other party,(the other person with the signed contract for the same car). Shame on the you and the system!
The auctioned Challenger was won at about 60,000 usd. Not bad for a car that has no history here in Mexico, it was never sold here.
My impressions of the car: it’s beautiful, huge in a good way.
Agree I think they should do the plum and the old bright yellow from the day.
Some people are tired of seeing comments about colors. Too bad. I want my Challenger in Plum Crazy Purple with matte black hood stripes. I wrote to Dodge telling them of the popularity of that color among Mopar enthusiasts. Anyone else have a preference?
Can’t wait until mine gets here- can’t wait to scrape the mustangs out of my tailpipes!
Chrysler de Mexico is auctioning the first Challenger SRT8 for the mexican market this weekend. They’re bringing 100 cars. I hope I can get tickets to go to the “XII Gran Concurso de la Elegancia”.
Orange, purple (with Plymouth Logos), Limon and black…
Yes it does lave a limited slip, the 09 Auto is limited slip, the 09 stick is a posi. hope this helps? I think on Alpar site it has the details for you?
Does anyone know:
Does the 08 srt have limited slip rear end I remember reading the fact it didnt. The 09 will have the trak pak with limited slip or what I remember as posi.
Are the 08’s posi because I had just seen a video and the car was an srt8 and was only spinning one tire.
looked a bit starnge till I noticed it was only spinning one tire.
NOTSURE… I agree with you… Dodge can’t please everyone but they did a heck of a job to bring a legendary car back to life. I know Dodge will be rewarded with plenty of sales. All they need to do is produce more Challengers and give us more options on engine size and colors.
Also, I think the main reason they left Hemi Orange off the color selection for the SRT is to give the 08 SRT buyers something extra that distinguishes their cars for a while.. I’m sure the Hemi Orange will be available for the late ‘09 SRTs.
Re type:
Man thats harsh I feel this car hit the mark but to each their own.
Dodge needa a bit pat on the back not a kick They did a damn fine job on this car.
Man thats harsh I feel this car hit the amrk but to each teir own
I am willing to bet it`s a plastic and tin can junk, no 425 cu, no 4 speed ,only 3
colors ,you guys can do better then this.
Sorry to hear about the Canada situation, that just bites.
Has anyone heard any news of option changes re:Colors, shaker hood,etc..
I suspect order info should be posted soon.
Funny I had to buy the 09 broshure on ebay got it for a steal $4.00 once I get it Ill post info that applies.
It is the car that many of us have waited for. Now it would be nice if we could go to a dealer in a civilized manner and order the car they way want and wait for it. In Canada, where they are built, it appears that this idea is a forgotten concept.
isnt it great hey never really lost sight of this vison of the new challenger.
I know we where all a but aprehensive since we had all seen the charger end up nothing like the proto type.
It is these little things that eman much to all us diehards.
I personally like the fact they pleated the RT seats what a smart move!Keeping in mind this is a new gen this car has hit all marks and go beyond in my opinion.
We are the die hard fueled by a passion to see this car back and in our hands, and its about to happen.
We all made this happen each and every one of us,with Dodges help of coarse..
i tried to stop myself from writing this, just couldn’t help it. for the record i love the fuel door.
i really like the part when they talk about the sticker on the gas cap. brian says “jeff mentioned the fuel lettering on there. there’s people who aren’t gonna understand that, but the people who do understand that are the enthusiasts that know what that means”
yes, the enthusiasts will know that fuel means gas which means put the gas here!
Agreed with Freedom Town - I think they get the color thing…also add in the Silver, Black, Orange and Red are just classic colors that DO look good, that’s why they are always used.
I owned a Silver Charger SRT8 that got plenty of attention and drool, and can’t wait till my new 08 Challenger SRT8(Silver too) gets here — whenever that may be. The wait is a killer, but, worth it - allowing me to save up a pile of cash to afford this sweet piece of automotive history.
The design guys at Chrysler did an awesome job here — period - MAN I CAN’T WAIT TO DRIVE IT!!!
The small details like the gas cap are what make this car such a classic design. Dodge, you did a great job with the Challenger. You’ve clearly set the benchmark for “retro”.
“just give us the colors we want and deserve for waiting for 30+ years”
Deserve? For what? Can’t people just be happy with what they get? Do you think we need more posts and emails regarding “more colors”? I think they know by now consumers would like that, maybe we can let this topic die…as it is now there isn’t a point in reading these blog replies daily, they are all the same.
You did a real nice job on the gas cap. It’s very shiny.
(Good name, James) And YES, I agree with all here - MORE HIGH IMPACT COLORS PLEASE!
Yes- Right on, more colors
PLEASE…more than just 3 color choices for the SRT.
Dodge you did an excellent job with the Challenger. The Camaro will try to be good, but in the end it will fall on its face. Now please, just give us the colors we want and deserve for waiting for 30+ years.
