Talk Back: Challenger Exterior Colors – The Perfect Canvas for Personalization

Well, as Sr. Manager of the Chrysler Color and Trim Studio, it is exciting to read all of the comments about how important exterior color is to the new Dodge Challenger. I couldn’t agree more! Though I’m not at liberty yet to share with you specifics planned for the Challenger, I can tell you that the Marketing and Design teams will be delivering many of your color suggestions and more as the car is introduced and in the years to come.
Here at Chrysler Product Design, we knew as soon as the Challenger received the green light for production, we needed to provide exterior colors that resonated with a wide variety of our customers. At the top of the list, for diehard muscles aficionados were Heritage colors like High Performance Red (TorRed), Hemi Orange Pearl and B5 Blue Pearl; not exactly like those of 1970, but new interpretations reformulated in the lasted high tech pigments. We also knew that we needed to include a handful popular Dodge brand colors (like Brilliant Black Crystal, Stone White, Brt. Silver Metallic and Inferno Red Crystal Pearl), which look great on any Dodge product and appeal to a wide range of customers. “Stealth like” Dk. Titanium Metallic and new Deep Water Blue Pearl were also included to round out the pallet for 2009. All colors include a deep, clearcoat finish that provides a stunning, durable, high quality appearance. And what about future Challenger colors? All I can say right now is that, yes, more of your favorite heritage colors will follow, along other new “exclusive” Challenger colors. Stay tuned…
So fear not Mopar Nation, your color requests have been anticipated by Chrysler and we have reacted. When accompanied with the wide variety of cool Mopar accessories, and a vivid imagination, any Challenger exterior color provides the perfect “canvas” for everyone to personalize his or her own car.

What do y-all think about them Cuda and Road Runner concepts? If they don’t nail it dead on like the new Challenger they’re just using the name and maybe even ruining the name of the older cars. They shouldn’t take the concept for the new Road Runner from the 72 style. 69-70 are where it’s at and it kind of depresses me how they’re sorta using the name but not gettin it the way it should be if they’re doing it at all. I don’t want these ruining how perfect the Road Runner is other than Mopar dragging Road Runner out til the later mid 70s where they look hella dumb and piss me off.
The near future NASCAR bodies are being switched to the new Mustang Camaro and Challenger. Switching to the pony car or E Body sized cars soon. I believe Pontiac and the GTO are entering. Hopefully we all leave Toyota in the dust like a darned coyote or should I say Chevy or Ford.
If nobody knew there is a Mr. Norm Super Challenger edition coming out for the new Challenger with a supercharger and a brand new 900 horsepower. Aarg, it send shivvers down me spine(in a pirate voice)

Can someone clear something up for me… is the B5 blue that is going to be on the 09 Challenger,the same color that is on the 08 Charger Superbee..?? Cawz isnt the color on the Superbee Surf Blue Pearl…?? And that isnt the same B5 that is on the #43 Challenger that was sold on Ebay… So which one is it going to be..??
We’ve been discussing this at www.challengerforumz.com but we can’t actually come to a conclusion, since the dealers dont even know the answer to this question.
Here is the bottom line. Offer purple as a color to fit this retro muscle car and I will be there immediately to place my order. If not, Camaro will be my choice. I only have room for one muscle car in my garage and at age 54, I have no intention of compromising with less than creative color choices.
Saw a mustang colored in a shifting paint yesterday. It went between black and dark purple with a hint of green from time to time. Was absolutely awesome. This would be the plum crazy of the 2000s. Would be very nice on a challenger too.
Something cool along the plum crazy color is the new color-shifting paints. PPG ofers some of those. They can go from a beautiful purple to almost red and even kind of orange depending on the angle. These color shifting paints would provide the equivalent of the older high-impact colors but with a 2008 twist. For an easy to reach example, take a look at the car in tripleX, state of the union. It’s awesome.
For the last few years the Automotive Industry has filled the road with cars that have similar colors. Black, white, silver, grey, red and blue. I think its about time to offer more colors by bringing back green and adding purple to the mix.

Looked at the order form for the 2009 Challengers… pretty bland colors overall… how many variations on the red spectrum do you need for one car? Same for silver / gray.

My wife and I can hardly wait to get our hands on a new Dodge Challenger SRT8 painted ‘plum crazy’ purple (whenever that color becomes available)! We’d love to see that color available in 2010 so that we can both shoot down the highway, one of us in our ‘plum crazy’ 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack, and the other in the 2010 ‘plum crazy’ Dodge Challenger SRT8!
I know RLD you are probably not listening to this thread anymore, but I will offer. Please have a bronze selection. I have a 73 Cuda in Autumn Bronze and she is a beauty. I would really enjoy having an 09 sit beside her in the same color. Otherwise, it will have to be Sublime, Top Banana or B5 Blue. Oh, and BTW, I am with many others here. If you don’t come out with all color choices early on, and I buy one of these cars with a comprime in color only to have it later, I will be most disappointed.
I hope this sound politically correct enough. Cause what I really wanted to say is - Are you guys daft? Give us the Hi-Impact colors - this is a gem of a car and should have the retro colors many of us have asked for - at debut! Cheers, keep working on it DodgeBoys - it will only get better!
WOW!I never thought of it, but a Dodge Challenger convertible? I would love it! in any color except red. I miss my challenger, it was taken from our driveway while we were away for the weekend. I had it for 17yrs. Our son who was 15 at the time, ask me to igive it to him for his 16th birthday.I don’t know who was hurt the most after it was stolen.

I once owned a 1971 Dodge Challenger. Today the new ones look a lot like the 70’s. My challenger color was called Plum Purple with a white top. It was a 3spd, 0 power. I want the ‘08 with straight drive in the floor, power windows and locks. I also want it in pearl white. too bad,I don.t like the new colors you have now.
Believe it or not, I leased a 2006 Mustang GT for 3 years to “bide my time” until the 2009 Challenger came out. It’s coming, and in June, 2009, I’ll be behind the wheel of a Top Banana Yellow Challenger SRT six-speed… if you make that color.
Everyone that has posted about this is correct - the car is a legend that calls back to the 1970’s. You need to bring back all the high-impact colors from the era - all at once.
My ‘71 ‘Cuda, which I owned for 15 years before I sold (for a boatload of cash, I might add) was Lemon Twist yellow… in honor of her, I was planning on the same yellow for my Challenger. If it’s not available, I’ll have to “settle” for red… and, if the “special edition” Top Banana Yellow comes out three months after I buy my second-choice red SRT, I’m gonna go ballistic!
Just a few comments as stated earlier. Please give us more color choices on the SRT8. Also it would be nice if you could bring back the pistol grip that more resembles the original, something that really felt good in your hand. What are the chances of a convertible in 09?

I saw that Dodge is producing the Viper in a lot of colors including a purple. I want my Challenger to be PLUM CRAZY PURPLE with matte black hood stripes! Follow the lead that Ford is doing with all those special edition Mustangs and retro color combinations. They sure know how to please their consumers.
Oh - and if anyone else is listening at Dodge - why, for God’s sake didn’t you make the 1999 Charger R/T concept? What a gorgeous car! The Charger you did produce sucks in comparison and might as well be labeled a “Magnum Coupe”. Dump this Charger and get that 1999 concept into production.
I LOVE THIS CAR. Period.
I may wait for new colors to spend that kind of cash (considering fuel prices, etc.)
In the mean time, I have done some experimenting with “Heritage colors” and photoshop.

I have tenatively ordered an 09 SRT Challenger, but I am really starting to have second thoughts with the limited color choices. I will not spend 40k plus for a black, silver or red car! Silver looks like turd, black is not practical in Az. and red is to generic. If your going to offer optional “heritage” hi-impact colors then just get on with it in stead of playing games with them and us. I know it is a marketing ploy to keep orders strong over a longer period of time but I want a car now! I don’t want to wait 6-9 extra months to get plum crazy or lime-lite. If that’s the case screw it I’ll go order a ‘vette!
DARK TITANIUM METALLIC????? What is wrong with you guys? You just added this color to your web site. I thought you were listening to the customer and yet you add poop brown for a color for the new Challenger. Everyone on these blogs is telling you to bring back the high impact colors yet you refuse. Maybe the high impact colors didn’t sell real well with the Chargers but that is because it is a four door box for God sake. You are now selling a sports car and you need sporty colors!! Please listen, if not don’t say you do on your commercials!!!
I have a deposit on an 09.Man am I disgusted with my color choices.Please listen to us.I am a GM employee that IS buying your car.But when I find out that Sublime, etc. comes out right after I have chosen from the wonderous 3 colors, man, am I going to go ballistic.You can paint a Charger in Sublime,Plum,B5,Yellow, etc., what’s the deal on not giving me these as choices.Even if I had to pay a “premium” paint charge, I DON’T CARE!!You gave us one a killer car, now finish your job.

The Challenger should always be offered in plum crazy or a modern version of same. The R/T should come with stripe and badging, nothing less. We need purple.
I’m going to give Chrysler the benefit of the doubt..they did the hardest part and built the car many doubted would ever be built. I’m confident they’ll do the
right thing and offer the high impact paint and trim options everyone is wating to see, sooner rather than later..I won’t order mine until I see what’s available. There is nothing worse than spending $30K plus, and finding out a few months later they will now offer special performance and trim packages ie: shaker hoods, graphics etc…
I read on another place on your board that the reason Chrysler is giving us virtually no heritage mopar colors is that it is cheaper for Chrysler to paint Challengers in the same colors as the rest of their cars. So you are shafting us to minimize your costs. But you\’re not minimizing the price of the Challenger, only your costs. So all this stuff about you caring about what we want is a lot of garbage. All Chrysler cares about is minimizing their costs. That\’s why you didn\’t give us the concept car\’s interior, because it would have cost you a few dollars more to build. You figure, why go to the expense when we suckers will buy this \”fabulous\” car anyway. Why not just rip us off with a heavy, barely modified Charger that is painted the same colors as all the other dodge cars and has the same interior as the Charger. In the business world, you get ahead by going the extra mile. People who try to get by doing the bare minimum don\’t get ahead. Chrysler will not get ahead with this policy of doing the bare minimum. This is why Chrysler is in trouble. It\’s because you guys don\’t really care about delivering to the customers what we want. You just want to skate by doing the bare minimum. Well the car market is a very competitive market, and that is far from good enough.
Give us a darn good reason why Chrysler is JACKING US over with these LOUSY color selections for 2009??? You people act like only a small number of mopar freaks want the bright heritage colors. NO WAY!! I would say MOST of your actual buyers want the bright heritage colors!!! There is NO good reason to force on us all these STUPID colors like titanium grey, two shades of red, and silver. It is extremely outrageous to offer a $40,000 car with only three lousy colors which most people DON’T want! Telling us we have to WAIT for you to TRICKLE out the colors we want in SMALL NUMBERS is GARBAGE!!! You made a great car and now you are RUINING the whole deal with your stupid JACKED UP color policies!!! Just give us the most popular heritage colors NOW!!! I have given up hope on Pontiac getting the GTO done the right way..Dodge has got it right with the Challenger! I was going to go with the new Camaro but the Challenger looks too good to pass up. This will be my first Chrysler product ever. Please offer the bumble bee stripe option & RT stripes etc. sooner rather than later along with all the high impact colors..Dodge should strike while the iron is hot, instead of trickling out colors and trim options. High impact colors are what the market is looking for! This car is a luxury for boomers with the money,who most of us have a vintage mopar parked in our garage. We know what we want and we will wait or not purchase at all untill the high impact colors and stripe options are available.

My c5 has been a hassle free car with only tires and brake pads to date with the mileage at 50k.
You wanna see a smoke show it will burn the tires to the rims with ease if you turn off the traction control and go into competive driving mode.
Im figureing the challenger to be a bit the same with much more weight.
Im well over 410 hp from last dyno.The ride and mileage is fantastic plus you can find a used c5 loaded for 22-26k.
However Im going challenger for one reason its a once and a life time thing here.Im not to impressed with the other options,ford,etc.
The vette will just have to find a home on the upper rack of the lift for a while.

The challenger that i would love to have would have sublime paint, shaker hood with hood pins, bumble stripe, and a sport stering wheel with 3 spokes and none of those controls on it.
I am definitely NOT the target demographic for this car … 40-something single female who tends to be more of a girlie girl than tomboy …
But … yessss I randomly “built one” … just cuz I could ;o) and I found that I was really interested in all of the options! Good descriptions for those of us who don’t know anything about cars! I never felt lost even once! After endless reading … even I can appreciate what this car is all about.
Ya think they would let me test drive a fully loaded 2009 SRT8 5-speed manual transmission model in black … for a year or two … to compare it against my 3-door 5-speed saturn and the 2008 mustang? (roflmbo) LOL Juuuuust to see if it could possibly be marketed to a wider demographic? ;o) Cuz I’m sure they are going to have a few extra ones just sitting around gathering dust (not) ;o) … of course I am just kidding … *sigh* … a gurl can dream … I think I’ll have to be good and ask Santa for one … I believe! ;o)

Yes, blogger Mean Gene, a white “Vanishing Point” edition Challenger. I think you are on to something.
Well, since my first two Challengers were Hemi Orange (Cop magnet) and B5 Blue (faded to ugliness), I want the SRT8 in White! Alpine, Stone, I don’t care! Not pearl, just white so I can fly under the RADAR with the cops! I just want the full choice of colors be it a SRT8 or a R/T!
As one of your fearless leaders Jim Press said in New York when he was introducing the Challenger line up, “If you can dream it then we will do our best to build it.” Hey, you have done the hardest part and built the new Challenger. Now offer us ALL the High Impact colors and stripe combinations all the time! Offer them on the Caliber and Avenger as well and I will assure you that you will sell more cars. Bumble bee stripes (you did it on your truck), Billboard stripes (like the old 1971 ‘Cuda), R/T stipes, Shaker hoods, and scoops on the lower quarter panel by the doors like the ‘71 Challenger. How ’bout a King edition in Petty blue (not B5 blue)? If you wait too long people may wreck a lot of these cars and the insurance will be too high for anyone to afford. Offer the colors, etc. now and you can always offer the Chrysler Cuda in a few years. Who knows, maybe you can offer a retro Charger that looks good or just fix the tail lights so they look like a 1969 and curve the sides so they aren’t so flat. At any rate, if you want to sell cars, don’t just offer new colors each year…change the grill and tail lights. That’s what sold cars! The people who can afford new cars want to justify buying a new one that doesn’t look like the one they already have.

To me 2010 looks perfect timing as my car will be paid for just then …. but it is unfair to all who’ll order before during and after ! Challenger = personality = colors … period !

They wil not only miss 1000’s of sales but also the envelope is shrinking weekly for the american and canadian household to afford such a fun luxury as a muscle car in todays age.I read a blog there are waiting lists for the RT out 3 years,I wish I hadnt read it.
They need to address the core demigrapic here which are baby bombers with the cash my god the avergae kid will die when he gets his first insurence bill let alone the cost of rising gas.
Dodge we are your core and you should listen to us ,colors are so one can personalize thier car to match thier personality and if you offer next to nothing for this old school base your sales will not be as expected.
Dodge should strike now while we are in the market for such a car then put us off till a few years down the line this will be disaterous mark my words.
People are losing thier houses daily not to mention lives and savings and when you have people throwing cash at you you need to listen up a bit they may not be there next year to buy …
I’ve been waiting (not so patiently) for the time to order a new Challenger, but apparently, I’ll have to wait some more. I seem to be one of the only women chiming in here, so here it is: WE GIRLS WANT MORE COLOR CHOICES on the SRT! Preferred: plum crazy. I’m already going to put off retirement so I can finance this beast. At least give us a color that looks good flying at ground level.
“FAST CAR” YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG! sublime and plum crazy are the first 2 colors desired in a poll of 1000’s of challenger buyers.the poll was on the canadian website for several months.
Sublime and Plum Crazy are 2 colours that need to be included from the start, Dodge may not sell thousands of cars in those 2 colours but the few they will sell will command a presence on the street and will draw a huge amount of attention which means Dodge will sell more cars in the others colours.
orange boy. . . I really doubt you’ll see “hemi” orange on a car with a V6. Dodge does offer that darker metallic orange color on nearly all their cars so that could show up. I’d like to see go mango on it but only if it was the old version. The new one is like a metallic salmon looking color whereas the old one was like pure orange.
While the overall car is good you guys need to reconsider the restrictive policies with regards to color schemes and options. I want a variety of colors and options available when I buy my SRT. I want a shaker hood, old school interior (ie seats) and mags as well as a rainbow of colors to choose from. To restrict this to the R/T model is ludicrous. On a 45k car I don’t think its out of line to expect to have maximum flexibility.
Surely you don’t think that customer satisfaction is worth a little investment in some paint pumps and lines?? Paint color is not just an “option” - it defines the vehicle. Paint is not something that we can easily change on our Challenger after purchase. Whatever color we purchase - we’re stuck with it. Make Sublime and Plum Crazy available on the 2009’s immediately for those of us with early production orders!

Now the reason they are offering 3 boring colors , from what I read , is that they are built alongside the 300/Chargers who use these colors ….. talk about a lame reason !

STRIPES - we know you’re gonna produce stripe kits - again simple logical success recipe for you Dodge - offer the most and offer it on whatever WE CHOOSE . All you need to do is look back at the originals (that is why we’re buying an original looking Chally - then we need original loking stripes too) AND PLEASE ADD THEM R/T CUT-OUTS ESPECIALLY WHERE THEY USED TO BE !!!
All in all is you had winning cars back then that we remmeber since - why !? The COLORS/STRIPES = love at first sight … then followed by MOPWR and Pistol Grip int.
Today you have a winning shell and drivetrain , but you’re cheapin out on COLORS ! You’ll end up losing sales BIG TIME - exactly as we’ve mentioned here since the beginning - we need ALL COLORS NOW on R/T + SRT (S/E I dunno) OR WE WON’T BUY ! Stupid it is - if you don’t go all the way on this

Well how about THAT,Dodge– It seems that nearly everyone agrees that you need to offer all the original Hi- Impact colors on all Challenger models, all the time!
What is it that your new ads say: “It’s a new day at Dodge,We’re listening”.
Well since you are, listen to us and do it now!! Do whatever it takes to get these colors available for ‘09 launch and keep em available! At least 3 of them at a time and phase them in and out throughout the year(each one available several times per year).
Stripe choices too! Etc. Etc. Etc.-Read the Blog.
It’s a new day, listen to your customers–We’ve laid out the road map for success!
Do it now and you won’t be able to count all the money that Challenger brings in!
Should also make in hemi orange for the SRT8m and jet gloss black!
Dodge should consider the sate of the economy there may not be the expendable cash that there is now by the time they roll out the other colors..
This is a must for all the guys who waited years for the car only not to get it in the classic colors.There is only so much of an envelope of time here dodge for the average buyer.
This will be a big mistake and 1000’s of buyer may be forced out of this purchase by that time.
They better think about that and know its not going to get better ..

I really think you did a great job with the new Challenger. It actually looks better than the prototype! However, color is everything and you need Sublime, Plum Crazy, Lemon Twist Yellow, Sassy Grass Green and of course…PETTY (CORPORATION) BLUE. By the way, stripe kits should be available, i.e, bumble bee and the R/T that went down the side of the car. Where is the Shaker hood option? If you are going to do it…DO IT RIGHT. I wanted to purchase a 2008 and 2009 Challenger, but you are not offering the high impact colors. Now I have to wait until 2010 and by then the gas will be so high that I will have to buy a bicycle. Bring the colors back NOW!! Thanks!

Ever think the challenger garnered all the attention it did because of the hemi-orange paint job? Would it have gained so many followers if the concept had been silver?
Well you’ve certainly taken some heat for your lack of color choices for the SRT models… and here’s some more.
- First off, get rid of silver. Nobody wants it. It’s not a bad color… but how many silver SRTs do you see running around? Not many, yet you still insist on keeping it around.
More color suggestions are…
– Statutory Grape (a.k.a. Plum Crazy)
– GoMango Orange
– Dark Green. I can take or leave Sublime, but it’d still be great to have it as a choice.
– Top Banana or Lemon Twist yellow - don’t have a preference, either one (or both) will do.
This CAN be done… so DO IT.
I want an 09 SRT and am not interested in black, silver or red. Need some of the old colors, in particular, plum crazy, B5 blue, and hemi orange. If those colors are coming out a little later in the model year, fine, but don’t wait too long. Who knows what might happen a year from now.
One color I\’ve thought of and termed \” Midnight Plum Metallic\” might be a choice others may like !
Just please, please, please put the HEMI Orange back on the on the SRT8! That color fits the car perfectly and to not offer it on there is just taking away your sales! Everything else about the car is spot on perfect! Now put the color it was designed in back on there!
Jeez, how hard can it be to offer a bunch of paint colors? We’re not talking about re-engineering some mechanical part on the car, just putting some more paint choices in the sprayer. Is it such a big financial commitment to have a few thousand gallons of paint around that might not get all used up right away? I think it would be a minor risk, and a real hit with all of the Challenger’s fans, if Dodge could offer ALL the paints we want, across the whole model line, for the whole production run.
Everyone seems to want Sublime and Plum Crazy, but what about YELLOW. CURIOUS YELLOW, TOP BANANA. The Top Banana was a good yellow but Curious is the best mopar color ever. It is bright and demands attention. The new Challenger looks awesome with all of the throwbacks to the 1970 Challenger, and if Dodge were to remake Curious Yellow for the new Challenger it make the car unforgettable like the original Challengers have come to be. You may have the normal Dodge colors like metallic red, black, and white, but the baby boomers who want these cars were the same ones who had them in the 1970’s. You don’t remember the shots of the Challenger in a normal color, the ones that had the impact and made people want them were the yellows, blues, purple. I know that someone is going to read this and say “oh, I am not a Baby Boomer and I want one”, thats nice. But when you first saw an original Challenger, what do you remember about it, would color be one of the things you remember? We have a 1970 Challenger in Citron Yella and a 1971 Cuda in Curious Yellow and when ever I look at them I am in awe. I was not able to live in the age of the muscle car, but with those I can feel what it was like. With the yellow you must have black to go with it, the ‘71 cuda’s Billboards are by far the best stripe I have ever seen, but that is something that is special to the cuda. The Challenger needs that flat black stripe to set it off, and there is no better than either the bumble bee stripe or the 1971 R/T stripe. Dodge you will get at least one buyer if you make a yellow, but I am pretty sure we will not be the only one.
Lets go through the checklist for the Challenger:
1. HEMI, check
2. Throwback looks to the iconic 1970 Challenger, check
3. Fuel door, another Dodge icon from the 70’s, check
4. A color that looks like nothing else on the road, and just grabs your attention, nope
You want us to create the car we want, well here ya go:
2009 Dodge Challenger R/T (I would go SRT, but Dodge did not have SRT in the 1970’s), 5.7L HEMI, 6 Speed pistol grip shifter, no sunroof, no Nav, well really no options except maybe Sirius, YELLOW (Curious, Citron Yella, Top Banana, just something), either R/T stripe or Bumble Bee stripe.
Dodge I want a car that when I take it somewhere kids will see it and remember it until they grow up and buy the one they saw that one day.
LISTEN - it’s great news that you will be offering an expanded color palette. The problem is timing. We want the retro colors (Sublime, Plum Crazy) now! I have a deposit down for a 2009 and from what I’ve heard will probably be filling out my order form some time in June. I want Sublime and Plum Crazy available NOW! I don’t understand the offering of silver on the srt again for 09. I heard only something like 10% of the cars sold were silver. So why bother? Likely the only reason they even picked it was because the hemi orange one has been shown to death and black is hard to keep clean.
Anyway as I’ve said I’m getting the V6 and am hoping something will be done to improve the color selection. The only “retro” color offered is red and I don’t consider that retro. Green Go or Sublime!!! I want a cool color and I can’t afford a V8!
I’m a loyal Dodge owner looking to buy a Challenger SE for looks and fuel economy. I would love to get PLUM CRAZY or VIPER SNAKE SKIN GREEN. I do want to have to spend more money for an R/T or Challenger Classic in order to get a limited special color.
A full color palette should be made available on all the models, SE, R/T and SRT8. Also wheel and graphics options should be made available on all models. Hood graphics, side stripes and the bumble bee tail stripe should all be brought back for buyers to customize their Challengers as they order them.

Mr Sr. Manager of Chrysler Color and Trim, I don’t think you are hearing us all that well, specfically with respect to the SRT8 version. Some of us would like to park a new low production number 09 Challenger SRT8 next their other great Mopar Muscle Classics, but we are not going to buy it in a color that is unimaginitive (sic retro). So maybe you could reconsider delivering the debut SRT8 in more than black, red and gray? How about an introductory color of say, Sublime, Plum Crazy, Pink Panther or Lemon Twist. Do you remember these colors? Chrysler used to provide them as debut colors for their muscle cars. If you look at all the blogs, I don’t think you will find too many people yelling - ohhhh ohhh, I just have to have silver or die! Personally I have been waiting since 2006 to park a real Challenger next to my other classics, not a reskin’ed Charger (the ‘08), nor a Challenger without psychedelic color. See ya in 2010, or 2011 or not at all if CAFE, or the economy catches up to the Challenger.
I would also recommend that the SRT Challenger be able to be SPECIAL ORDERED in ANY COLOR, if customer wants….. at a small extra fee if need be.
I’m first on the list at my dealer to get an ‘09. I was one of those that said, “I have to have this car.” Thus, when the ’09s come out, I’ll be getting a black SRT8.
This, however, was not my first choice of color. I absolutely love the “Deep Water Blue Pearl” offered on the SE and R/T. I was extremely disappointed to discover it wasn’t offered on the SRT. Since I don’t want TorRed (Ooops… High Performance Red), and Silver looks like a dirty white to me… I only had the option of black. I agree with other posts that ask why only 3 colors are offered.
I understand more colors will be coming in future years… but in order to afford this car I have been saving since I found out it was going to be produced. I don’t want to wait any longer, and I likely won’t be trading this one in on a new model just for color.
I was so disappointed that I thought about getting an R/T… but wouldn’t you know, they don’t have push button start. :-p
I forgot to to add one thing to my earlier post.
ANY “new” colors need to be available to the SRT model as well as the R/T. I (and quite a few others) are very irritated that the 09 SRT only has three (3!) color choices while the R/T has a whopping seven (7!). Why is this? The top model should have better choices than that. Heck - at least offer the SRT in white (ala Vansihing Point) to at least make up for losing HEMI orange. “Silver” just isn’t cutting it as a popular choice. Word is that is was a very low take on the 08’s - so WHY offer it again as one of only 3 choices for 09?
But please offer more (and retro) choices for the SRT line - it deserves better and does cost the most. So reward those who are spending the extra $$. As stated earlier - I want PLUM CRAZY - but I also want to get that color on an SRT - not only an R/T.

Well if you’re listening it won’t hurt to say it again. I’m in the market for an SE and would really like it in sublime. Can’t afford an R/T to get the color I want much less a special edition R/T loaded with options. I hope at the very least you’ll expand the color pallet for the SE beyond 6 colors. Sunburst orange or something close to Viper’s snakeskin green would be nice. . .
I’m inclined to think that SE customers are probably looking for these high-impact customers moreso than even the R/T and SRT buyers since those customers would probably buy this car based on performance alone.
Great news, but please reconsider your decision and offer Hemi-Orange for the 2009 SRT.

The 09 colors are fabulous. I am waiting for definitive information defining late availability on the heritage edition. We do need definitive dates and information as multiple area dealers are telling me stuff that is contrary to the info disclosed in the March 17 introduction video and on the website. Wish the dealers would be as informed as the buyers. Life would be easier for all of us.
don’t forget the stripe packages! white interior and white convertible top is a must!
I’d just like to know when they are going to ship the “08’s. It is “early spring”.
I also am waiting to see if the colour that I want will be offered on the Challenger. I want either plum crazy or sublime. I hope that it is not your intention to offer these colours only as a short production run one at a time as was done with the Charger Daytona. Those cars became undesirable when they were built in short supply with every option and priced them out of an acceptable range

PLEASSSSEEE tell us SOON if these are going to be availble for the 09’s when the ordering opens up….or is this gonna be some “mid- model year” change?!?!?! I have a deposit down on ordering an 09 - BUT I don’t want to order a less favorable color (I like NONE of the current ones) if only a month later you are gonna tell me I can now have the PLUM CRAZY I want to badly.
I am going PLUM CRAZZZZY here waiting to know the specifics. “Stay tuned” is gonna be the mantra I repeat over and over as I go insane!!
