I love the Challenger and hope to get one in 2009 if it comes w/ the 426 Hemi and 6 speed manual trans. I am writing to give Dodge some constructive criticism. Maybe b/c I love the car so much and have stared at the production pics so long that I’ve notice some minor things w/ the fit and finish that Dodge maybe able to address in the production car.
First, if you click on the picture with the tire and you look at the top left hand side of the picture where the fender meets the front fascia (bumper) you will notice that the two body panels are not perfectly aligned. minor tweeking should correct this problem.
Second, if you click on the picture showing the rear spoiler, you will notice that the trunk lid and the fender are perfectly aligned. Again, this should take only minor tweeking to correct.
Dodge please don’t take the comments the wrong way. I definately want you guys to be very successful, but people paying upwards of $40K for their cars want them with tight tollerences and great fininshes.

Now the GM there is giving me a bunch of runaround and acting very unethical like he wants to screw me over. He wouldn’t of even had the order if it wasn’t for me and now it looks like he’s trying to sell it out from under me. Can he just do that if he wants? Interesting interpretation on the wheels. The production ready Alcoa forged wheels that have been recently revealed are a good design, lightweight and strong (I’m sure) and I’d like to see a good set of forged wheels on the R/T. The concept Challenger was seen with 2 wheels, one was the standard Charger SRT8 wheel, the other/main wheel was a hollow spoke design which would probably cost $2500 per wheel to produce. Hollow spoke wheels are often seen on show cars, but they are impossibly expensive for any auto maker to offer, and there may even be an SAE rule against them…in much the same manner that pop-up headlights were banned in the 90’s. I bring that up because I’m not even aware of any aftermarket hollow spoke wheels.

I agree - the ram heads need to roll. Looks good on the trucks, but get them off of Challenger. 2008 model designs are probably locked in, but you can still make these changes for the 2009s.

I would also love to see a T/A version with matte black hood, stripes, and side-exit exhaust!

Dodge, great job! I too will be waiting for the 2009 edition b/c I want the 426 hemi and 6 speed manual trans. Love the spoiler. Are you guys planning a T/A version anytime soon (with the stripes down the side)? I know a lot of people are complaining about the fact that on 5000 SRT8 will be built 08, but they fail to realize that the 09’s will start shipping only a couple of months after that. Can we get from RLD any information on the expected production numbers for the 2009 Challenger? (please at least 50,000)
Only thing I did not like on the new Challenger is the Ram head on the wheels and on the hood.

Looks like you took my advice about the fuel cap. Is it a snap open?

If you guys make the Cuda please integrate the exhuast into the rear bumper…

I’m holding out for a Plumb Crazy convertible 6-Speed (hopefully with the 392 HEMI) in 09/10

I had one of the originals in the 1970’s. I believe there were only something like 1300 made at that time. Oh how the price has changed. I believe my Dad paid something like $3,000 dollars for it new. It was gorgeous…Meadowflake blue, while vinyl top and mag wheels.

This car is simply beautiful. I stood at the Atlanta auto show in the same spot for almost two hours just staring at the concept. From the sneek peek pics I have seen, they actually improved it further in the details. It brings a tear to my eye.. I love this car!

Love the pics, hate the rear spoiler. Hopefully it’s only optional or atleast comes body color. Wheels are nice though not as fitting as the concept. Does anyone know if the carbon fiber hood stripes are going to be available beyond the limited edition 2008?

That’s what I’m talkin’ about! I love the filler cap and the grille! I sure did like the wheels on the concept, but I heard you guys had clearance issues. Great job and thanks for providing the pics!

FINALLY dodge brought back the gas cap. That was the first thing we noticed when we got our Charger, where was the Charger chrome gas cap? It was a huge symbol of muscle cars and now with them coming back why not on the Charger, but nice job bringing it back.

Welcome

Back in the day, folks referred to holidays as "Red Letter Days" because of their color on calendars. They were times of excitement, tradition and celebration. Well, that's how we feel about the New Dodge and frankly, we've always had a special place in our hearts for red.
