Video: Castiglione and Barrington Pt. 2

Nov 21, 2007 at 5:57PM RLD

Just in time for the holidays…another portion of our sit down with Micheal Castiglione and Alan Barrington, the two designers behind the Dodge Challenger concept. This time, we spend a bit more time dissecting the inspirations of the concept, specifically the role of classic muscle. Plus, a discussion of how they picked HEMI Orange for the concept’s now famous exterior. Enjoy your holiday! — RLD

When are we going to hear some news on the Challenger?!?! And when are you guys going to start answering the questions that have been asked in this forum? I can get more info from Allpar.com and ChallengerTalk.com than I can from the source - RLD.

Come on RLD don’t let us down… we done our part and hung in there… now it’s your turn… PRICING and SPECS!

    BIGBADJAV, AMEN!

I agree completely. Offer the Value Edition power house. Think SuperBee first year of production not much on it but a ton o good ol’ FAST!

Listen to your customers dang it! We want a “big motor stripper”, a flip cap like those drawings, a t-56 pistol grip, and our colors sublime/hemi/plum crazy/etc. !!! Oh yeah, keep the car exactly like the concept, right down to the neon tailights! If you can’t do it next year like you promised, give the camaro a spanking in 09!

    All that said,

It looks like Dodge is going to listen to their stupidity and not their customers.
Limit production, price gouge, and generally be a donkey(public forum) about eveything. It won’t be from lack of input!

These designers made a great car, but they just don’t get it, a “stripper with a big motor” is the ideal! that should make these cars affordable, instead of giving the old retired guys a chance to relive their glory days with AC, GPS/Nagivation, SIRIUs radio, and crap in their $50,000 5,000+lb pig!

The challenger is really a great looking car, but you guys should stop messing around and bring the car out of production and in the amount so that everybody who wants one can get it. From my understanding there will only be 5000 ,08 challengers for the USA which means that each dealer will get only one maybe two and the next batch will not roll out until later on in the game. come on you guys, you are going to end up losing sell to chevy with the camaro

You guys did an awesome job in designing the Challenger. I can’t thank you enough.

I am counting the days until I can have one in my driveway!

Relax. The official release will be in February. RLD said he would give us some “specs” on the production car after Thanksgiving. Just be patient.

this is the big thanksgiving announcement we were being told about for weeks? i’m getting really tired of this. the truth is the cuda is a much more desirable car to have recreated. if you listened closely the designers basically came out and said it themselves. i have been ready to buy since the word go. all these questions and surveys about what you want in the car are bs. the car is not taking any further input and hasn’t for months. there would be no way to outsource and test in time. Dodge, you have insulted our intelligence with this charade of an open 2 way forum. it has taken so long for information, my local dodge dealer went bankrupt and refunded my deposit. an all too common problem around these parts for dodge and chrysler. you have strung this out so far, the print mags barely mention this car any more even in the special new cars for 2008 editions. how about a little scrap of info such as when will the first car be ready for delivery? or, how about how long until the convertible will be released? or even, will the public be able to order a car, or are we expected to walk into the dealer and bow down for the right to pay $10,000. plus over sticker and not even be able to pick our options(shelby mustang style)? i’m really pissed. how many of these cars will actually be produced before new cafe standards kill this car? will a convertible emerge before this happens? if lee iacocca was still in charge, would he let loyal customers be treated like this? can’t you see enough is enough?

Since there was discussion about colors in part 2, could we possiblly see/vote on/suggest colors for the new Challenger? I’d like to see a lighter metallic blue.

As someoen said before under the part one video, you guys really are great, and mopar fans around the world owe you a huge debt of gratitude. How disappointing it would have ben to see this car end up looking like that P.O.S. they are calling a charger.

Please tell me you two will be involved in the next “re-design” of the charger when and if it ever happens. Even the mid ’80s chargers were 2-door cars. Come on Dodge, fix it!

If you guys are ever in Salem Oregon, go to the airport National Guard facility and ask for SSG Davis. I’ll buy you a few beers, or your choice of drinks, and dinner. You’ve earned it.

Welcome

Back in the day, folks referred to holidays as "Red Letter Days" because of their color on calendars. They were times of excitement, tradition and celebration. Well, that's how we feel about the New Dodge and frankly, we've always had a special place in our hearts for red.
