LA Show Wrap: A Whole Lotta Dodge in SoCal
Nov 15, 2007 at 8:16PMLOS ANGELES — Another year, another great show in LA. Green is the focus of the day around here and Dodge is putting itself squarely in the hybrid game with the 2009 Dodge Durango Hybrid and Chrysler Aspen utes (the two-mode hybrid we’ve been following with Mr. Bazzi for weeks now). The HEMI Hybrid delivers 25 percent better fuel economy overall and 40 percent better fuel economy in the city. Seriously…40 percent better in the city. That’s some major scratch these days. Check out the full Dodge Durango Hybrid release here.
Not to be outdone, the Journey also got a right and proper introduction in the States, offering a new crossover option for drivers across this great land. Sure, sure…it’s got the benefits of small and large vehicles with small car fuel efficiency on the highway and big car interior space. And sure it looks pretty stylish against the competition. But did you know it has a cooler built into the floor? Waterproof! Toss in some sodas, maybe a bottled water or two and you’ve got refreshment on ice for the picnic. (Sorry, we tend to get caught up in those kind of details about cars.) Everything folds flat, too, so you can haul all sorts of righteous stuff around when you aren’t loaded up with family and friends. Did someone say versatile? Check out the full Dodge Journey release here.
Oh…and how about the auto show in general? These things are great…bunch of awesome cars (not the least of which being the SRT4 Caliber or the Viper ACR) that you can be up close and personal with. Plus we got another look at the Avenger StormTrooper that we first met at SEMA. Love it.
And if you’re at the press days, you get free lattes and (if you know where to look) some free grub. The good folks at Chrysler even pitched in to give one of these famous little Dodge and Chrysler branded cubes out at the debut to keep everyone humble. How in the world do you solve these things? We got pretty close…on one side anyway.
Here’s the Dodge Auto Show homepage here for lots of pictures and fun. But while you’re here, enjoy some more pics after the jump…
