So that’s that. A dealer in Idaho won out in the end, bidding more than $175,000 for the Challenger #2. And, as we said before, all proceeds are going to charity.

Here’s some statistics on the auction:

Final bid: $175,407.07
Auction Page Views: 29,871 (as of close)
# Bids: 119
# Unique Bidders: 22

In other news, in our bid to keep the Red Letter community informed, let’s take a look at what we’ve got planned in the next few days:

–We’ll meet one of our Grand Caravan engineers who lives, breathes and eats the auto biz

–Challenger fans take note: The production version is being test-marketed and we’ll take you behind the scenes of one of these sessions in Orange County, Calif.

–And yes…with the tremendous flow of questions, we’ll be tackling your inquiries, which is actually one of our favorite things to do here. Rest assured, if you ask a question, we’ll do our best to answer it in a future post. We like to line up a serious expert from Dodge for you and jeez…these folks are busy. But yes, yes…we know! Questions about b-pillars, diesels in Europe, mark-ups on the 2008 Challenger and more are in the hopper for next week. Stay tuned…

My main concern with the new Challenger is akin to what happened with the Shelby GT500 mustang - massive price gouging from greedy dealers. This is prevented me from even going to a dealership - knowing there was no room for negociation and I could expect a 15K to 20K dealer fee add on. If this happens with the SRT8 Challenger, I will not buy one - and sad to say, will go back to buying another Audi! Is there any way Dodge can prevent dealers from doing this?

How much horsepower and how much torque will be in the srt8 charger?

Just wondering. Any plans to do a small documentry on the Challenger? I think it would be rather cool to watch the first one rool down the line in Brampton. Also, will Canadian dealers get an opertunity to see the car before the public like you did with the 300c?

Welcome

Back in the day, folks referred to holidays as "Red Letter Days" because of their color on calendars. They were times of excitement, tradition and celebration. Well, that's how we feel about the New Dodge and frankly, we've always had a special place in our hearts for red.
