VIP Pass: Dodge Gets Jiggy During Award Weekend in Vegas
Sep 11, 2007 at 4:53PMLAS VEGAS – The queen of pop attempted a comeback. A Motor City icon wrestled a fellow rocker. And two heavy-weight artists put their coming album-sales competition aside momentarily to co-present an award. It was another memorable awards show, but as dawn broke in Vegas on Monday, the 2007 Video Music Awards crowds started filing out of the city and back to wherever they call home.
What a weekend. Far from just a single night of stars and glitz, the crowds arrived early in the weekend and hit the party circuit from dusk ‘til dawn to prepare for the awards show. For most folks, being in Vegas this weekend meant perhaps seeing a celebrity or two arriving somewhere and being whisked to the VIP room. Try to get in and a surly security guard demanded to see your pass and then not-so-politely told you to leave.
Fortunately for you, this blog is your pass. And we’re happy to provide a glimpse behind the velvet rope at an exclusive party held on Saturday night on the South Strip.
The party provided an exclusive “luxury suite” style viewing of the concert going on at the beach’s amphitheater on the hotel grounds. While the crowds rocked and swayed to the show below, a few hundred well-dressed and bubbly revelers took in the scene from above, relaxing in private cabanas and dancing around (and eventually in) the many shallow pools built into the main floor of the club. After the concert, DJs took over the club with a nonstop flow of beats and dance favorites spun from a Dodge Avenger perched high atop the venue.
Out front, a red carpet welcomed the celebrity guests as reporters and photographers grabbed quick conversations and fashion shots of musicians, comedians, models and even a celebrity blogger or two (ourselves excluded, of course.)
But we heard from our sources that a few A-listers not on the list snuck in through the back to enjoy the night’s festivities. The Dodge Challenger concept even got through the VIP line, opting to sit right near the end of the red carpet for celebrity and entourage to gawk over themselves, with a few taking a minute to pepper the car’s handlers with a few questions of their own.
“I don’t care who you are, we can’t let you drive it.”

I am a commercial vehicle sales specialist with Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Sprinter. I am a little concerned about the spy shots we have seen for the 09 Ram. There are a few battles we are winning presently regarding apperance and brand recognition with Ram trucks. Those die hard Ford guys are now comming in to the showroom because we have the best looking, biggest truck in the industry and supposedly the Ford’s ride has become a little less comfortable than before. It’s helping us sell a ton of these trucks. All I ask from the design team is PLEASE keep these things in mind on the redesign. The early spy shots are disscouraging but I have faith in you guys. You did not let us down in 03. Also, please tell me the Challenger is not being considered an SRT AUTOMATIC for innitial production. This car is the revolution of modern American muscle and deserves the touch of heritage we all are waiting for. I believe it would be in our best interest to not place a production cap on this car. I remember the first model year of SRT-4. How many accually got built? I believe highline production should be based on accual demand and not predictions. Let the car sell itself. And what the heck, bring on the 6 cylinder. Could’nt sell any worse than the Mustang.
One last thing, MOPAR rules, always will.. Thank you for letting us keep our MOPAR pride with the new Challenger.. Its going to take a few months, but I think thats all it will take to sweep the streets of mustangs and send them into hideing…..
Its About time!! I cant wait, Now we can round up all the mustangs and send them to the glue factory!!! I still have my 70 Road Runner!!
when will we know about pricing on the challenger i plan on buying one for my husband
Dad is right. As men get older they still like the same things they did when they were 18. It is just now we can afford it. The 2005 Mustang is paid off, in the garage and getting little sprinklings of this and that to make it stand out and go fast…hmmm can you say….blower….and it aint no hair dryer… But the Mustang needs a play mate and the Challenger is just the ticket. I hope they are not all pre-sold….
Ok everyone together now. This will only work if we all do it together!!!
CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA!!!!!!!
Can you hear us down at the headquarters Chrysler. Maybe we weren’t loud enough or maybe some of you didn’t join in.
If you build it they will buy! Chrysler “CUDA”
I heard all the R/Ts have been pre-sold already. I hope that isn’t true. I’ve been wanting one of these since the first hint. I’ve got an 01 Cherokee just waiting to be traded. Havent had a real musclecar since I got rid of my 73 ‘Cuda and 66 Barracuda to move from Virginia. Dumb moves there!
does anybody know about a convertable coming out? maybe as an 09′ i havn’t heard anything about it, but i read in motortrend that it was a no brainer. Please tell me their is gonna be a convertable. DODGE SPEAK UP the camaro is all over the place why don’t we know this? My truck is paid off in 8 months i want a convertable challenger in 09′ who’s with me? COME ON
Where do I sign. I’ll take 1 of those bad boys in Plum Crazy Purple. I was going for the SRT8 Charger which is very cool also but the Challenger…CAN YOU SAY,
IT’S MINE BABY!!!!!
What about a supercharger on the Dodge Avenger? The wife needs to have some fun also.
The new Challenger is a beautiful tribute to the original musclecar era. I own classic ‘68 and ‘70 Hemi powered cars and am looking forward to adding a new Hemi powered ‘08 Challenger to my stable. Chrysler has come a very long way in redeeming their reputation for quality and performance; my ‘07 Dodge Ram continues to impress me more with each passing day. Thank you Chrysler, you’re on the right track!
the new challenger kicks a** i’ve got a dodge ram 4×4 with a hemi and i can’t wait to see a convertable challenger cause imma gonna buy it 6.1 and 425 come on its mine
That Challenger is AWSOME ! My 1st mopar was a new 1969 Dodge Super Bee. My 2nd new mopar was a 1973 340 Duster/4-speed. I quit driving mopars because you went to front wheel drive and dropped the performance cars. I\’ve had (and now own) several GT mustangs because of your decision to make granny cars. I was going to buy a 2008 Mustang GT until I heard about the HEMI Challenger. If it really does come out, I\’ll be back to Dodge for 2008.
